Im completely new to the whole idea of backups and how to open any internal dvd drive. I would like to know if there is a certain dvd drive that i have to use or if any would work. Also I have already purchased two internal burners but returned both because only the bottom would unscrew not the top as is shown in the photos....... Is there a way to open the casing and lift off the top to swap the disks on a drive like this or do I have to find a drive that has screws on top and opens only from the top? Help is appreciated!

I know this is an older post, but if you are willing to spend the cash, pick up a Samsung sh-d162 and flash it with the Kreon firmware. You will have a much easier time getting it to read 360 discs.... otherwise the only burner that I know of from experience that will suite your needs is the Samsung SE-S164. It is an external drive that opens at the top, good drive for using the hotswap method if that's what you end up likeing and does a good job burning the disc as well.
