hmmm... maybe the xbox360 will make a great high-end web server. OOOO I think I'll attack the area of component level upgrades. A 2 GB RAM 360 sounds nice to me. Maybe I can put my component level repair skills back to good use. (You need loads of RAM to have smooth running web servers for sites like this). Think of it, 360.xbox-hq.com running on an actual Xbox360. Now that would rock!
Won't it be PowerPC based? That should not be a hurdle.

Now that would rock.. I have seen forahobby setup his xbox as a webserver running apache and mysql but its as slow as hell.. lol..
Id love to see xbox-hq running from a xbox360.. lol
People would just visit the site just to see what it runs like.. I know i would.
good idea tweaked...

Well if we can do this, I mean make a stable 360 platform with about 2GB RAM and every hosting feature Tweaked offfers running smoothly on it, we could set up the xbox-hq360 server at the datacenter and even have a web cam on it. Now how cool would that be?!!

The webcam would be sweet. May need 2 xbox 360's (one for webserver and one for mail as mail takes up alot of a servers processing)

Tweaked,
Definately sounds something cool to have a play with anyways. If you ever try setting up a webserver with a 360 let me know...

Definitely something worth doing and will be a fun project. Whether it is practical in a production environment is another matter. Once the 360 can be modded then we can get involved with it and do all sorts of stress tests to what it can handle and where it limits are. More L2 cache makes any system like it has turbo so that is worth looking into as well, It may be fine the way it is. We'll see.

Will do. I am with out a doubt going to give it a go once there's mods on it, even if it only be a pet project. I will let you know once a web server is running on one. I am sure after people mod it, people will get web servers up anyways. I want to get it so it will be a viable one with more RAM. With 512MB RAM, a small fairly busy web server will most likely work fine but with over a gig of RAM it should be quite a contender from the raw power it looks the 360 will have. _________________________________________________________ 10% VIP Discount (Coupon Code: HQ-VIP-001 ) - Signup for web hosting at www.TweakedHosting.com/clients/aff.php?aff=004 and earn the HQ network of sites recurring income!

I bet it will give it a run for the money with enough ram and may even beat the dual 3.2 HT Xeons . Xeons are not as powerful as Opterons and are expensive. _________________________________________________________ 10% VIP Discount (Coupon Code: HQ-VIP-001 ) - Signup for web hosting at www.TweakedHosting.com/clients/aff.php?aff=004 and earn the HQ network of sites recurring income!
