so for the burner wat do you need.... did u use a 111D???
or can u use something else??? anything cheaper???
i wana mod my 360 to make back ups and i've never done it before... so i wana make sure i do it right... well thank you guys!
and i dont get the difference between firmware and the mod chip??
Well im an old xbox modder that hasn't ever installed, used or done anything with a 360 modchip. From what ive learned you put the mod chip onto the DVD drive and flash the firmware, which allows you to play back up games. The firmware most likely takes away the media checking. As of right now, no real mod chips that plug into the console itself, just the DVD drive. _________________________________________________________

Only thing the mod chip does that is interesting is it flashes on the fly. The original firmware is always present, it flashes when need be. But it is a pain, you have to build games specific to your modchip, as hobbs stated earlier.
Once the kernel gets cracked and homebrew floods the scene perhaps the chip will be tempting. Even when I had an xbox, I softmodded it. Not really into the paying to do something that can be achieved free.

You'll need a dvd drive either modded, or a drive with kreon on it. Use the latest xbc, and you cant save games to the hdd.
