*Drunken Rant*

I read another article today about how Toshiba plans on putting the Cell Broadband engine into cellphones. Now I know this came out a while back but it just adds to what I have come to believe, and you are welcome to do some google searches and make your own conclusions, but I believe Sony has been duped. I believe they know it. I also believe it is just a matter of time before the public figures this out.

Well it goes like this, Toshiba saw an oportunity to get a big company (Sony) to help them money wise to build a very powerful video processing chip One that would be capable of decoding 48 MPEG2 steams at once with 2 of its designed 8 SPEs not even having to be used. Man all of this video power should be good for HD Gaming right? Well Sony must think so Because they are positive it takes all of that extra BRD space for HD Gaming.

Now it is time for prototypes of the Sony gaming machine, but it doesn't work like it is supose to so they have to get a video card maker to make them, of all things. a video processor. Now they are several years into development of the PS3 and the Cell is already designed and basicaly finished, but Sony still has problems. So they deside hey lets tell them at E3 what this thing is supose to do and show them some pre-rendered video clips, these things play video pretty good. Well another year passes and they deside to cut back on their promises because the users are not going to need that particular feature anyway. We will have it all fixed by launch, provided we can figure out why this thing gets so hot, you would almost think it wasn't designed for this gaming stuff.

Meanwhile Toshiba demostrates the chip in a Toshiba TV doing what it promised it could do, decoding 48 MPEG2 Streams with one extra SPE used for scaling and placing all of the pics onto one screen and one SPE that is still not doing anything, and almost 2 years before the public will get their hands on the first PS3. Toshiba also tells how this chip will be used in everyone of their TVs one day and how it can even be used in a Cell phones, as well as many other types of electronics in need of a chip like this. You know, Personaly, I bet it will even be used in an HD-DVD player one day.

If your still with me I guess you caught that last line huh? Yep because Sony is using this big bad PS3 to push their next gen movie player, the Blue Ray Media Disc. Yes Toshiba's big and only compeditor to HD DVD in the media wars that have been on the burner for a while but have just physicaly started in the recent months. Now Im not saying anything bad about Sony because The Sony PS3 is full of Toshiba chips right down to having Toshiba made chips in their new SIXAXIS controler. If your afraid for Toshiba because Sony is such a big name don't, it seems that Sony has had production issues as of late, they can't get enough parts. So its up to HD DVD to keep things going for a while in the HD video market. And heck Toshiba even got Microsoft to help them out a bit by helping them market their HD DVD until Sony can get on their feet and give them a good fight.

Ok so it changed from a rant into a bit of daydreaming, anyways, I think Sony has been duped from the getgo and Toshiba could be in a position before long to take a big step forward in the ranks of honor and respect among their peers. I hear that stuff is big in Japan.

If curiousity gets you don't take my word for it, do some searches on this stuff. Although I've not seen one site put two and two together yet. Maybe because I keep coming up with 5
