Ok before anybody falls off their chair no this is not a joke. Oxford University has confirmed by DNA testing hairs brought to them from 2 opposite ends of the Himalayas (1 from a shot and stuffed "Yeti", the other from a CH4 documentary team) That YES the Tibetan legend is true.
Now to clarify, the legend always has stated that it was a weird type of bear living at top most reaches of the mountains far beyond the range of known bears. The idea of an ape-man was a western creation due to the footprint photos from 1951 near the Everest base camp.
Ok enough build up, wanna know what it is? The hairs were a 100% match to DNA extracted from the jawbone of a prehistoric polar bear thought extint some 40-120,000 years ago. And no this isnt some bigfoot hunter quasi scientist, this was Oxford Uni in UK, the first people to retrieve DNA from prhistoric human bones.
