Hello all,

I have an original xbox 360 arcade console. It comes with no memory of its own. My friend gave me his 256MB memory card for game saves.

I saw this video on youtube of how to take apart an xbox 360 hard drive enclosure



It was quite informative. It seems all xbox 360 hard drives basically contain laptop sized HDD connected to what appears to a USB to SATA male plug (second object from right)


Instead of paying money online to buy a hard drive enclosure, building one myself sounds more fun!

If I wanted to make a jury rigged enclosure, it would obviously need a laptop drive connected to that plug that fits into an xbox 360. What is the name of the port found on xbox 360's for hard drive enclosures to plug into?



Can anyone point in the right direction for a tut on this?

That is one hell of a good question. I will see what i can dig up for you. Only experience i've had with the older hard drives was upgrading them with HDDHacker.. I doubt this will help you but here's a link for anyone who might be looking to upgrade their hdd themselves.

Update: I just found this hope it helps: YOu can buy a aftermarket hdd kit for around $7.99 USD here - http://store.weekendmodder.com/product_info.php?cPath=28&products_id=57 - Then all you have to grab is a western digital hdd and use hddhcker.

Finally I was just going to ask you if you have attempted to just attach an external USB drive to the Xbox 360 and install your DLC and other apps onto that? I'm pretty certain you can, but not sure about installing games.
