But if the warranty has expired then take it apart clean the drive and re-grease it, half of the time that's the case or the position sensor is caked with dust or something bunched up on the track of the tray.
But smashing the Xbox will damage the hard drive in the long run, the tray tracks get dry on the ends and usually needs some grease nothing more, for 120 bucks vs a couple of cents worth of grease, these days warranty's don't mean jack. Faster to fix it yourself and way cheaper and less of a pain in the butt. _________________________________________________________
