Hey guys, I am definitely new to these forums, and especially Modding 360's. The main thing I need to know is if the JTAG consoles still work, I am planning on making my own 10th Prestige Lobby for MW2, and I need any possible steps to do this and please tell me in Layman's terms.
Furthermore, is it really profitable to mod 360s and host prestige lobbies? I mean I figured that if the hacked consoles cost ~$200, and if I charge $15 per person, and fill it up with 20 people, that's $300, and if I manage to do that another time without getting banned, that's $600, so I got a nearly $400 profit. Does this make sense to you experienced guides? And please, don't hate if this is in the wrong section or if this has been asked before, I'm a complete Noob

the jtag exploit is only available on xboxs which have not recieved the jun 09 summer dashboard, you need a dashboard with a number lower then 8xxx
this is a picture of an xbox which CANNOT be jtagged
notice the numbers 8995 that means it cannot be jtagged.
this xbox IS jtaggable, notice the numbers 6717
the last criteria is the manufacturing date, which has to be before june 2009.
the hack is actually quite a difficuly one to do as well, and it involves a fair bit of soldering.
as for making money on prestige games it all depends i guess if you can find people willing to pay.
We do not condone the use of exploits of hacks/ mods for the use of profit as these guides and such are posted for personal use and educational use only. I'm locking this topic. It may be deleted later after further discussions.

Sorry DelatArmStrong2000, I had to unlock it as I love discussing the JTAG hack, but as you said, don't use the privilage of a JTAG online or for a profit or we will relock the post. There are many reasons for keeping a JTAG offline, let me make a list.
1. It ban's a good keyvault, keyvaults can be used to resign CON Files (Container Files), container files are gamesave data, such as your Halo 3 Map Variant or your Modern Warfare 2 Campaign/Single Player game save. The reason a keyvault is needed is because you may have heard of modding a Halo 3 Map Varient or the Modern Warfare 2 Campaign save to make yourself run fast and jump higher, that can only be done if the modified Container File is resigned, in order to resign something, you take the keyvault and use it to properly resign the Container File. When a keyvault is banned, you can no longer use it to resign CON Files. And the thing is, there is only a limited amount of KeyVaults we can use because they can only be obtained with a JTAG XBox 360, so they are limited. And now the Xbox 360's are manufactured with the new update.
2. It's called cheating, would you like to be completly owned by a newb that is the highest level in a game, and got it by cheating?
3. A JTAG XBox 360 should NEVER be used for a profit, the JTAG exploit should be used for experimental and educational use ONLY, don't abuse it.
Anyways, in order to modify Modern Warfare 2, you will need a modified default_mp.xex file, the reason you need a modifed XEX file is because the modified XEX file tells the game to read a patch/hacked file at a specific time or when certain buttons were pressed. For example, I coded a patch file so when I press A and B at the same time, I will then be able to run super fast. The patch files can be coded in C++, so if you are good at that, you should have no problem coding a patch file, but remember once again, stay offline!
The JTAG hack works by gaining access to the XBox 360's NAND (flash memory), you can rewrite the NAND (flash memory) with a modified kernel that allows you to boot XEX files (Xbox EXecutable File) that have been modified. All XEX files have special security encryptions, so when a single letter/digit is modified, the whole security code has changed. Once the Xbox 360 realizes the XEX is invalid/has a bad signature it won't let it boot. The JTAG hack disabled the encryption. _________________________________________________________

im feeling a bit rebellious so humor me... if i was to learn to jtag xboxs and bought them and sold them this would be a no go?
you can buy and jtag all you want, but selling is a no no in most countries now. It like the old saying - what you do in your house is your problem, but don't TELL or involve others that don't need to know.
Back on track - we are here to educate the different capabilities of the 360, for personal use only.
Have fun, enjoy your stay and ask all you want about modding the console as I still have questions from time to time as well. Just pirating and making money from exploits is illegal so we try to keep it out/locked/deleted.

It's no problem bro. Just remember it's not such a good idea, you get about 4 hours before your banned. And then you will need to buy a KeyVault from someone for a really bad price to go online for another 4 hours. It's really useless. _________________________________________________________

Very nicely said delta.. thx..
we absolutely DO NOT condone piracy. We do however condone JTAG since it enables homebrew and other custom functionality. But with JTAG you have to remember game mods come too.. But like everything DO NOT go online! We do not support modded boxes for online purposes or lobbies.
We are more a clans, gaming and technical support for repairs, replacing drives, lasers, motherboards and adding cool things like extra fans, 12v fan mods and more..
It's a fine line, but we have been on it for many years now!
Bombernee has also been nice enough to submit some videos tutorials..
