Well, I have been watching things for years now. I always observed how the database was hogging and clogging other things like http/php and mainly stealing CPU power just because of drive access. The server has 8 processing cores with a total of 16 processing threads so it was still doing quite well this way but I thought it was time to address things. Now I can't just put faster drives in without redoing everything so I setup a second server with 15000 RPM drives in RAID which is handling all databases and sql queries for the HQ sites. The 2 servers are connected via private LAN on 1000Mbit ports.
To this put in perspective: In 2 days the HQ database has processed over 2000 GB of data transfer between the 2 severs. So 30 days will mean like more than 60 terabytes of data use. That translates into an amazing amount of drive IO being saved on the web server of the HQ sites. IO is now zero most of the time on the Hq web server now.
So too the load averages are now only about 1 for the processors which means most of the CPU cores are now napping allot. This is good in another thought, heat generated by the processors will be significantly less saving hardware life and energy. Oh and now there is much more of the 12 GB RAM available to the web server too. Yeahoo
I love it when things go good _________________________________________________________ 10% VIP Discount (Coupon Code: HQ-VIP-001 ) - Signup for web hosting at www.TweakedHosting.com/clients/aff.php?aff=004 and earn the HQ network of sites recurring income!

It is actually about 2000 GB a day not every 2 days but 60 terabytes is right. _________________________________________________________ 10% VIP Discount (Coupon Code: HQ-VIP-001 ) - Signup for web hosting at www.TweakedHosting.com/clients/aff.php?aff=004 and earn the HQ network of sites recurring income!

I like that Solaris XFS is 128 bit file system. Puts 64 bit to shame in capabilities. We couldn't afford the hardware to make it worth while though for the HQ sites at this time but who knows, in time maybe we can. _________________________________________________________ 10% VIP Discount (Coupon Code: HQ-VIP-001 ) - Signup for web hosting at www.TweakedHosting.com/clients/aff.php?aff=004 and earn the HQ network of sites recurring income!

Sounds nice. This will be great to use on fileservers. Something new to start testing. I think I'll setup a test network using this and have some fun with it.
Thanks for turning me on to this. _________________________________________________________ 10% VIP Discount (Coupon Code: HQ-VIP-001 ) - Signup for web hosting at www.TweakedHosting.com/clients/aff.php?aff=004 and earn the HQ network of sites recurring income!
