i jus bought the logitech X540 5.1 speakers, and wanted to know how i can connect them properly to the 360 to get good 5.1 surround sound. the game console adapter that came with the speakers work well, but it jus doesnt feel like actual 5.1 sound. and if i want all 5 speakers to work then i have to turn the matrix control on on the wired remote. so if anyone knows how i can connect it properly then please let me know.
cheers

Hi arch,
Do you have a 5.1 Fibre Optic cable??
The cable should connect from the back of the 360 AV port directly into your stereo if it supports it. Im sure it will if its new.
Let us know how you go.. You will notice the difference when it is in 5.1

hey forahobby,
no unfortunately the speakers dont have a fibre optic input port, it doesn't even have an auxilary, jus the three basic 3.5mm jacks for the 5.1 speakers, inly thing i've found that i can use to get proper 5.1 is getting the Creative Decoder DTS- 100 which is still somewhat available in india, if you or anyone has any other ideas please let me know.
thanks

since you have only 3 x jacks as inputs i would suspect that it only supports 5.1 ANALOG input and not digital.. You may need to purchase the "Creative Decoder" but im not sure as i havent physically seen the unit your using.
Got any links to the product?? We will do our best to help you out.

Looked it up, don't think you can get 5.1 via RCA jacks like the adapter needs, not sure what the decoder does, but you may need something like that to take a 5.1 source and break it down to analog Front/Back/Center&Bass _________________________________________________________

Hi arch,
Thanks for the link and sorry for the delay but it seems they don't have a hell of alot of info on that product up on their site.
It say's it supports dolby 5.1 but not dolby digital 5.1 so it may be that it only supports ANALOG inputs (which is the jack for each speaker).. Not sure what i could recommend here..
I know the Xbox 360 has digital fibre optic output so maybe you could find a convertor or somekind which would split it back to the analog inputs for you.
Ill see what i can find and will reply if i can help as always.
