Hey all, just got my high speed internet back up and running. Just got it hooked up today. Using high speed DSL through AT&T, using their router/modem model 2-Wire 2701HG-B.
I have wired my 360 directly to the modem and the high speed it great. can run 2 computers doing multiple downloads with no lag.
The 360 is another story. It can download updates fine with no problems, but when I try to get on to xbox live ( it sends me to the account management screen as I need to add money to my xbox live) I get to the account management screen then get kicked right off live back to the main dashboard after a second or two. tried turning off the other computers and it still happens.
I guess this router is not great for xbox live? any suggestions on how to make it work, cant afford to replace the modem at this time. Anyone know of any fixes? someway to make it work with existing modem? or am I screwed?

You can manualy set up your own ip address through your router and make sure you get the dns settings too primary dns server and secondary dns server. i manualy put my own ip address and subnet mask and gateway all that good stuff and never had a problem since then i use to drop from live all the time or also when i first hooked it up the router didnt like xbox live but was capatible with it though i went through 4 hours of teq support through xbox live and my router company all that stuff and then i just looked at the xbox network setup and said shoot i can make my own ip and all that and after i did all that it worked perfect. Try that once bud if this does not make any sence i can walk you through it. _________________________________________________________ The one the only Scarface!!

Hi Gamexxover,
It sounds to me like you havent configured your new MODEM to forward ports to your xbox 360.
If all your pc's and everything are working ok and it's only your xbox 360 your having troubles with then i know for sure you need to forward all the correct ports to your xbox 360 from the router main menu screen.
Here is a tutorial which will tell you what ports to forward.
Thanks for the info guys, I went through each and every one of those suggestions with no change.
I still get booted off at the account management screen where you go when you click update ( because my xbox live is expired)
Like I said, my xbox downloaded updates just fine and even an update when I put in bioshock. And when I do the xbox live test, everything comes out good.
so I did all the steps you guys suggested and still have same problem, but check this out.
Just for the hell of it I signed out of GAMExxxOVER My main tag, and signed in to another tag I used once as a joke when I had an extra 1 mo xbox live card. . So that account is expired of course but when i go to connect to xbox live it says I only have silver account and xbox live comes through, it shows the new advertisements and everything.
So the problem must be with my account under GAMExxxOVER. When I sign in this tag i get the screen that comes up and says....
"Your account has been suspended due to a problem with your payment option. Please use a different payment option or update your current information in account management" then there is the option to UPDATE PROFILE, which is what i click then it takes me to account management page and quickly boots me back off.
Since I have like 8000 gamer points on GAMExxxOVER account I am going to try calling tech support at MS to see If maybe they can get me up on thier end rather than using a tag with no Gamer. If not I will use a new tag. I need me some online!
Thanks for the help guys. At least I know my way arround the router now, Ill give an update if I get it sorted out.

Looks like it is an account issue at this point ( not that any of the other profiles would have worked if I had not done the router fixes first )
Its going to be a couple weeks before I can resolve the problem with my current main tag so I set up a temp Xbox Live account with a 3 mo card I had laying arround, My temp account Tag is
GAMEOVER HQ
Feel free to add it to your friends lists guys and maybe Ill catch you online. What have you guys been playing on line lately, is R6V still hot or is COD4 the game now? My buddy has it so I can barrow it from him. I have all the achievements except the dang mile high club on vet, I thought it was an impossible achievement till I saw someone get it on youtube, but have not done any COD4 online since the beta. So I am realy looking forward to the new maps and perks.
maybe I will try putting in my code for Frontlines it that beta is still up, But probobly missed the bus on that one.
Catch ya guys later.

Hey gamexxover, sounds like you've got it sorted out now.
I have the exact same router (Software revision 5.29.47) with AT&T as well, and I didn't touch a thing on my router (the 360 is wired using DHCP, and I didn't have to forward any ports).
Good luck with everything!
