Dolby Vision launches today on Xbox Series X|S with more than 100 next-gen HDR titles optimized titles available now or coming soon in Dolby Vision.
Dolby Vision gaming now available for Series XIS
Starting today, gamers with compatible Dolby Vision-enabled TVs will be able to enjoy full-spectrum visuals with the rollout of Dolby Vision gaming on Xbox Series X|S. With Dolby Vision, epic worlds – such as lush rainforests or neon futuristic cities – are brought to life in more vivid color. Dolby Vision deepens your immersion into the experience by enabling you to see an enemy hiding in the shadows or spot hidden clues through expanded contrast and better clarity in both bright and dark scenes.
To ensure a growing library of games are available, Dolby and Xbox are working together closely with developers to provide the tools they need so their titles can take full advantage of Dolby Vision. They can do this through built-in features within the Xbox platform or they can choose to implement the technology directly into a game’s engine.
There are more than 100 next-gen HDR titles optimized for Series X|S that will feature Dolby Vision, and in the future you’ll see more games like Halo Infinite taking full advantage of Dolby Vision.
Having collectively worked together on and off for many years, and after spending many more years at some of the biggest and most prolific developers on the planet, the core talent from Typhoon Studios have reformed and announced a brand new studio: Raccoon Logic.
The Montreal-based outfit has secured a large initial investment and regained the IP for the acclaimed Journey to the Savage Planet, meaning they can hit the ground running on new adventures in the action adventure space.
Altogether, Raccoon Logic’s co-founders have held key positions at the likes of Ubisoft, Electronic Arts, and WB Games amongst others, with the studio backed by a pivotal investment from Chinese tech firm Tencent. Combined, it should ensure Raccoon Logic’s as-of-yet unannounced debut project will have both the tools and talent it needs.

Curve Digital has announced that Embr will make the leap to Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch at the same time it enjoys its full launch on PC this summer.
Embr - developed by Muse Games - is part satirical commentary on the world’s ever-expanding gig economy that increasingly dominates our lives, and part brilliantly silly multiplayer.
Play charges you and your friends with coming together to have a crack at fighting fires and rescuing residents - if you call throwing them directly onto the ground from open windows a ‘rescue’, that is.
In Embr, players either take on the game solo or work together in online teams
tackling blaze after blaze to earn tips from clients, picking up the ever-so-crucial 5-star rating in order to earn cash, upgrade tools, and hopefully become the ultimate ‘have-a-go hero’ firefighter. Want to make a little money on the side? Then you can also deliver takeout food on the fly with ‘Embr Eats’. Embr really is the ‘uber’ experience for anyone who wants to get to grips with the gig economy.
As Howard Tsao, Team Lead at Muse Games explains, ultimately Embr is one of a growing number of games that thrives on making failing fun.
“It’s safe to say this was never designed to be your typical firefighting simulator,” adds Tsao. “Embr’s role is to focus a comedic eye on where the gig economy is headed - the
ultimate end we’re all hurtling towards, where your everyday person on the street takes a crack at some of the most important, specialised, and crucial jobs for a bit of extra cash. The end result is just as hectic as it sounds and, within the relative safety of a game, an amazing amount of fun. We can’t wait to launch it fully on PC and, just as importantly, bring it to a brand new audience on console later this year.”
Having treated Early Access players to three major updates in less than a year adding fresh modes and content aplenty, Embr has also added new content today in the form of a Golden Toilet Grenade to keep those clients safe while you take care of the fire and an explosive Demolition game mode where players get to start the fire for a (bit of) change!
Embr is designed for Xbox One and PS4, but will run perfectly on Xbox Series X|S and PS5. Keep an eye out for more details on Embr’s launch on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo
Switch, and PC later this year.
Stormind Games, developer of the critically acclaimed Remothered has revealed the first details and trailer for their brand new IP, Batora: Lost Haven, coming to Xbox One and Series X|S, Playstation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Watch the official announcement trailer!
Built on a rich Action RPG foundation, Batora follows Avril - a regular 16-year old girl, not a natural born hero - as she realises, after losing everything she cares for, that she is the only one who can save a dying planet Earth from oblivion. This is how her interplanetary adventure starts: along this journey she will visit colorful and mysterious planets and meet intriguing characters - and she will learn that every choice has a consequence.
Far from a standard aRPG game, Batora is based on the duality between mind and body, introducing a new game mechanic that challenges players to find the perfect balance between the two - losing sight of one could mean that their journey is over. Batora doesn’t present the hero’s journey in black or white, good or evil: there are decisions and there are their consequences. Every single decision Avril makes will turn out to be important, often even life-changing, for the characters she meets or the places she visits.
“We live our lives in a constant state of flux between our physical and mental well being, often with little thought for how they affect each other.” commented Giacomo Masi, Narrative Designer on Batora: Lost Haven. “The journey which Avril takes in Batora really focuses on the need for a strategic dualism - mastering the balance between the physical and the mental - whilst presenting a multi-branching, narrative full of consequences, rich in plot twists and credible, like-able characters.”
