“Ripout” Coming to Xbox, PlayStation, and PC in 2023

“Ripout” Coming to Xbox, PlayStation, and PC in 2023
Published by: forahobby on Thursday, January 19, 2023

Indie developer Pet Project Games (@PetProjectGames) and publisher 3D Realms (@3DRealms) dropped a new gameplay trailer for Ripout (@ripoutgame) showing off the improvements the studio has been implementing as it prepares for a Xbox, PlayStation and PC launch in early 2023. Check out the new gameplay trailer and learn more about the upcoming title on @XONEHQ.

Co-op Horror FPS “Ripout” Coming to Xbox, PlayStation, and PC in 2023

Ripout is a co-op sci-fi horror FPS with customisable biotech weapon combat that features the Living Pet Weapon (LPW), a gruesome chin-ticklable living gun that is able to absorb advanced tech from downed mutants, including shield, plasma and teleportation biotech upgrades.

The title also features a unique system that sees enemies able to reconfigure their bodies and assimilate other enemies to create horrific masses of threatening biological and technological material. Players have to deal with these ever-evolving threats with their co-op partners in procedurally generated levels that offer a variety of missions and objectives to cater to different playstyles.

Ripout is set in the 22nd Century, an era where humanity has reached beyond Earth to conquer the solar system. An interplanetary revolution for humanity began, but it would quickly turn disastrous. This new expansion was greeted with new threats, as Alien forces emerged and threatened this new golden age.
Desperate to find a way to keep them at bay, humanity developed a cell that regenerated soldiers’ tissue at superhuman speeds. But the cell turned sentient, causing those soldiers to transform into gruesome and bloodthirsty mutants. With humanity’s savior now fast becoming their downfall, soldiers are deployed using the latest in biotech weaponry to
deal with the mutants that have overtaken its fleet of battleships, turning them into derelict and deadly graveyards...

Ripout features include:

  • Procedurally generated levels: Ripout is a sci-fi procedurally-generated shooter, enabling players to undertake missions that will never be the same.

  • Variety of different missions, monsters and objectives: Every mission will offer various objectives to cater to players with different playstyles. Mutants can reconfigure their bodies and assimilate other monsters to become a constantly evolving threat.

  • Scalable co-op multiplayer: Featuring intense co-op gameplay, Ripout offers scalable difficulty to ensure teams always have a fun yet challenging experience.

  • Sentient weapon companions: Players have their LPWs by their side at all times. They can use them
as a weapon to shoot mutants or unleash it to feast on enemies and even harness some of their biotech powers.

  • A cozy hub ship: Players can take a break between patrols in their cruiser hub. Hang out with your friends, play some arcade mini games from the 80s and customise your loadout, ready for another randomly generated mission.

Ripout is currently scheduled for release on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC in February 2023

War Thunder's “Hot Tracks” update adds Italian helicopters and more

War Thunder's “Hot Tracks” update adds Italian helicopters and more
Published by: forahobby on Sunday, January 03, 2021

The “Hot Tracks” major update for the military online action War Thunder is now available bringing new visual effects for ground and naval vehicles, the Italian helicopter tech tree, legendary battlecruisers Von der Tann and HMS Invincible, as well as a many other new military vehicles.

War Thunder Hot Tracks Update

The new caterpillar tracks on War Thunder armoured vehicles consist of separate segments, each of which has physically accurate properties. When passing over humps and potholes, the caterpillar bounces on the wheels. During acceleration and braking, it tightens or whips, and also sways for some time after the vehicle stops. When a shell hits a track, the track breaks exactly at the segment where the impact hit. If a tank drifts on stone or concrete, or turns sharply on asphalt, the all-metal track will give off a sheaf of metal sparks. The update currently brings new tracks for selected popular ground vehicles, while others will get the upgrade later.

The previous major update brought new fire effects for aviation, this time ground and naval guns got a similar overhaul. The Dagor Engine that powers War Thunder now also generates small landscape-native objects, like rocks, pebbles, debris, plants, moss, mushrooms, placed on the scene using only the GPU to make the landscape look more natural. All these visual updates would probably be better to test using one of the new ground vehicles, i.e. the long-awaited top Chinese ZTZ99 MBT or the Japanese ST-A3 medium tank with an auto reloading mechanism.

The new Italian helicopter tech tree enters the game and introduces three machines. Although the AB 205 A-1 is just a modification of the well-known US UH-1H “Huey” helicopter, both the A109 EOA-2 and the A129CBT Mangusta are great examples of Italian engineering original design. Mangusta is especially interesting because it was the first attack helicopter both designed and produced in Western Europe. Nowadays it’s a part of the Italian and Turkish armies' arsenal and has been deployed in Afghanistan and Iraq. The Mangusta is armed with a 20mm autocannon and carries a good arsenal of both guided and unguided weapons, including Stinger air-to-air missiles and Hellfire II ATGM’s.

Jet fans are also getting several signature machines, like the Buccaneer S.2 “Banana” attack jet, the carrier-based A-7 Corsair II attack jet (one of the first US aircraft with a HUD) and the F-84F Thunderstreak fighter jet. Fun Fact: Richard Bach, author of the ‘Jonathan Livingston Seagull’ novella, was a pilot in the F-84F Thunderstreak during his service in Europe.

The blue-water navy in War Thunder has gained two ships that participated in the Battle of Jutland, which was the greatest World War 1 naval battle.

World of Warships: Legends May Update Unleashes Legendary Tier Ships

World of Warships: Legends May Update Unleashes Legendary Tier Ships
Published by: forahobby on Friday, May 22, 2020

World of Warships: Legends (@WoWs_Legends) announced the arrival of Legendary Tier ships with a new feature to unlock them, the full release of Russian Battleships and the new "Sword of the Pacific" campaign in the May 18 update.

World of Warships Legends

The first Tier VII premium destroyer is featured as the final reward in the new "Sword of the Pacific" campaign: Yūdachi. She served in many of the early Pacific battles during World War II, and eventually earned the nickname "Nightmare of Solomon" for her actions in the Guadalcanal campaign. In-game, she is a stealthy destroyer with excellent torpedoes and a torpedo reload booster consumable, more than backing up her historical reputation. Players will have 5 weeks to finish the 90-levels of the campaign, earning plenty of Boosters, consumables and more along the way!

The new Legendary Tier ships are unlocked via a new feature, the Bureau. In essence, the Bureau gives players the ability to research ships and other rewards over time by playing the game daily. The research can be boosted by completing daily trials and assigning specific ships to the project, Most importantly, the only way to get command of one of the powerful Legendary Tier ships is by completing projects in the Bureau. Players will be able to start working on unlocking their first Legendary Tier ship after short introductory project, putting them on the way to the end-game of World of Warships: Legends - the Yamato, Alaska, and Großer Kurfürst will be the first three Legendary Tier ships available. These ships should be considered long-term goals for players, it will take a couple of months to complete a project.

These three ships are very powerful and pretty unique in their abilities. Yamato, for example, excels in medium to long range combat thanks to her immense 18-inch guns and armor scheme. However, Yamato can be surprisingly vulnerable at close ranges due to her armor weak spots—which is precisely where the other Legendary Tier Battleship, Großer Kurfürst, excels. This German behemoth is built for brawling combat with extensive armor protection and hit points. Alaska, the only cruiser in this Legendary Trio, is probably the most unique ship out of the bunch. Her punchy 12-inch guns—the largest on any cruiser in the game—put Alaska into a league of her own.

The Russian fleet is complete at last, as the Russian Battleships are leaving early access this update. They bring a lot of firepower into battle, though they don't have the best accuracy at long range. Skilled captains must use their heavy armor to get close before delivering devastating blows. The full release of the Russian battleships includes the Tier VII Vladivostok, the most modern battleship available to the Russian tech tree. Vladivostok has excellent firing angles and armor, but like most of the Russian behemoths she isn't very maneuverable and has a large citadel.

Check out the new update overview trailer for World of Warships: Legends to learn more about the new Legendary Tier ships, Bureau, and the Sword of the Pacific campaign.

Wargaming also revealed that there are 3 new maps on the way: Greece, Northern Waters, and Crash Zone for high tier battles. All this comes with UI improvements, new fire effects for ships, and balance changes! Players will be able to begin unlocking powerful unique ships along with other rewards throughout the new update, and there are a bunch of balance changes and maps coming too. There's a lot coming to World of Warships: Legends this update.

World of Warships Legends Update Adds Two Campaigns, Ranked Battles and more

World of Warships Legends Update Adds Two Campaigns, Ranked Battles and more
Published by: forahobby on Monday, April 20, 2020

The World of Warships: Legends April update introduces two new Campaigns, two new seasons of Ranked Battles, and a host of new features and more. Check out the official update overview trailer and learn all about the new ships, campaigns, ranked battles, and more.

World of Warships Legends April 2020 Update

The Russian Destroyers are now fully released, meaning players can research their way through them to the Tier VII Tashkent. These ships are quite interesting; unlike most destroyers, they focus on their abilities as a gunboat rather than stealth and torpedo armament. Like the Russian cruisers, they have flat-shooting guns designed to work best at their maximum range. Staying at this range works well for the destroyers, giving them time to dodge incoming fire with their tremendous speed. After adding in some short-ranged torpedoes, the Russian gunboats are perfect for high-risk, high-reward gameplay.

Speaking of high-risk, high-reward–the Russian Battleships are here in early access, due to be fully released next update. They bring heavy red artillery to the sea, and will contest the German battleships for the spot of best brawler. The guns on these brawlers are only accurate at close range and they are heavily armored, making them great at pushing the enemy. However, they will take massive damage if caught broadside on, so careful positioning is required! Players will be able to sail in these behemoths by opening Soviet crates, which can be earned in the campaigns.

World of Warships Legends is now available to play for free on Xbox

World of Warships Legends is now available to play for free on Xbox
Published by: forahobby on Thursday, August 15, 2019

World of Warships: Legends goes into full release worldwide this week on Xbox One and PS4, adding new content including German Battleships in early access, German destroyers, and its most ambitious campaign to date centred around the legendary battleship: Tirpitz. Download it today for free!

World of Warships: Legends is a completely new entry in Wargaming's World of Warships franchise and is built from the ground up with consoles and console gamers in mind. The game is available on Xbox One & PS4 and uses the full capabilities of the current generation of home consoles. Experience epic naval battles, detailed warship designs, historical commanders, stunning oceanic vistas and more!

Throughout its four-month early access, World of Warships: Legends has been releasing new content and quality of life improvements. The game has seen the launch of the German Navy with seven new commanders, two campaigns giving players further access to new content, and a boatload of bug fixes and improvements to graphics, sound, and the user interface.

The new update marks the full release of World of Warships: Legends! To celebrate the release, players are getting the opportunity to take part in a campaign to earn the lonely queen of the north—the battleship Tirpitz. In order to receive the full benefit of the Hunt for Tirpitz campaign, players should get Admiralty Backing. The campaign will be available for five weeks, from August 12th to September 15th, giving players the opportunity to progress through 100 levels by completing a myriad of challenges and weekly missions. Along the way through each of the 100 campaign levels, players will be showered in rewards ranging from credits to premium time! Players will also receive new campaign currency on the way, giving them a chance to play some of the upcoming German Battleships such as the Gneisenau or Bayern.

The German battleships in early access are renowned for their durability and firepower in a brawl, but their potential at close-range can become a handicap as the distance increases. Players will have to adapt their strategies to the new play-style to make the best use of them and develop new tactics to counter these behemoths. Representing German Battleships as a top-tier premium leviathan, the Tirpitz epitomizes the new play-style of the German battleships: huge, insanely tough, and with potent secondary cannons—an unmatched brawler. The Tirpitz also packs an unexpected surprise for a battleship—torpedoes. To break it down, players can expect German battleships to have the best up-close-and-personal firepower and unmatched grit.

The players will also get to fully experience the devastating efficiency of Germany's up-armed destroyers in this update, from the V-170 to the Z-23. These destroyers are infamous for being filled to the brim with firepower, even packing cruiser-calibre guns in some cases. Such powerful guns alongside rapidly-reloading torpedoes and sonar (at higher tiers) help players punch above their weight class.

Players can now pursue Trophies and Achievements too! Expect new features, ships, commanders, and more in the coming months!

World of Warships: Legends is available to download from the Microsoft Store and PlayStation Store. Watch our exclusive World of Warships Legends Xbox One X gameplay in 4K ultraHD.
