Dice claims Battlefield 3 not only capable of pushing PS3 and Xbox 360 to their limits, but if the next Playstation or Xbox system came out tomorrow, they have plenty of juice left in the game and its engine to dial its graphics up even further to take advantage of those next gen systems.
Dice says Battlefield 3 will push both the 360 and PS4 to their absolute limits.
DICE executive producer Patrick Bach told CVG that he was confident BF would be "if not the best-looking console game this year, up there with the competition".
Dice is not nervous about the next generation of gaming systems but rather looks forward to them, they feel their new frostbite engine is more than ready for the new systems.
As for those next gen consoles, it has been confirmed PS4 is already in the works and expected to hit the world sometime between 2012 and 2014. No word on a new Xbox as of yet.

The second live-action trailer for Battlefield 3, titled "Fault Line Episode 2: Good Effect on Target" has been released by EA and DICE.
In the second trailer, the battlefield squad prepare to fight off a sniper without much cover. The new series of trailers give a glimpse at the amazing gameplay we can all expect from this soon to be smash hit title. Hit the play button and let's see how it all plays out.

In a recent interview with Game Informer, Battlefield 3 Executive Producer Patrick Bach has mentioned that they are now looking into ways to incorporate Theatre Mode into the next BF title.
"We have functionality on our end that can capture movies. The hard part of course is our dedication to creating non-cheatable games contradicts the whole idea of doing that because we are running dedicated servers on everything and that actually makes it harder," said Bach. "We’re definitely looking into ways of delivering our version of this functionality, but I can’t give away any details."
Co-Op mode is pretty much confirmed too; "We will have a co-op mode. I won’t go into exact details about if it’s going to be connected to this or that, but we will have a co-op mode in the box.".
