50 Cent For Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

50 Cent For Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Published by: wes213 on Saturday, August 08, 2009
Tagged: Gaming, Xbox 360, Xbox Live,

For any one that has pre-ordered this game and is getting mad thats its now up for 50 cent read on, this is not a price drop of biblical proportions its more like one of what could be a few cameos in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 game.

kotaku Reports: Rapper 50 Cent will be strapping on the bulletproof vest once again in a video game—but not one of his own. Instead, he'll be making a cameo in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Fifty won't be continuing the search for his diamond encrusted skull, however. The rapper will simply lend his vocal talents to Modern Warfare 2 as "The Multi-Player Voice," according to official site ThisIs50.com. The rapper dropped the news following a visit to Infinity Ward, during which he played Modern Warfare 2 with Good Charlotte's Benji and Joel Madden. No official word yet on whether those two contribute to the game or if Infinity Ward was simply double booked.

Robert Bowling, the developer's director of communications, says that 50 Cent will be "one of the squad voices in Multiplayer / Spec Ops" on his Twitter account.

This wouldn't be the first Call of Duty to feature famous voices, as actors Keifer Sutherland and Gary Oldman played prominent roles in Treyarch's Call of Duty: World At War. Obviously, Mr. Cent is no stranger to video game voice over work, having appeared as himself in 50 Cent Bulletproof and 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand.

The only question we have is whether 50 Cent can go as deep and hard, (*****), as Infinity Ward's own Mark Grigsby did in Call of Duty 4...

Update: Robert Bowling from Infinity Ward tells us that 50 Cent is "one of many squad voices" that will be featured in the multiplayer and Spec Ops modes in Modern Warfare 2. Expect to hear Fifty saying things like"Reloading," "Watch your fire," "I'm down, get me up!" and "Tango Down!" according to Bowling.

"He is one of quite a few casual cameos in the game, none of which I can name at this point," Bowling says. "Benji and Joel of Good Charlotte NOT being one of them. They're just good friends with Curtis and came along with him when he was here recently to check out his voice in the game."

PayPal can now be used to purchase 360 content US only

For those leery of using their credit card online, Microsoft has introduced a new method of payment for Xbox Live. PayPal can now be used to purchase Microsoft Points, the form of currency used in the Xbox marketplace.

Users simply add a PayPal account to their payment options in the same way they would add a credit card. And while this is great news for PayPal users, it does come with a few drawbacks. Firstly, the service is only available to those in the US. Secondly, PayPal can only be used to purchase points on Xbox.com, not via an Xbox 360. You can, however, set up multiple PayPal accounts with one Xbox Live account.

It's always great to have options, so the addition of PayPal as a form of payment is good news. And combined with the recent advent of XBLA games being made available on Amazon, it gives gamers plenty of choice for how they want to purchase their games. Now let's just hope Microsoft eventually rolls out these services in other regions as well.

XBLA: Xbox 360 Deal of the Week is R-Type Dimensions

XBLA: Xbox 360 Deal of the Week is R-Type Dimensions
Published by: forahobby on Wednesday, August 05, 2009
Tagged: Gaming, Live Arcade, Xbox 360, Xbox Live,

R-Type Dimensions fans might want to look at this weeks Xbox 360 "Deal of the Week" from XBLA. This week only "R-Type Dimensions" will be available for 800 Microsoft Points. That's a saving of 400 MS Points.

The coin-op classics, R-Type and R-Type II, are together at last in R-Type Dimensions! Fight through all 14 Bydo-infested stages in original 2-D or all-new 3-D graphics, and swap back and forth on-the-fly. The classic gameplay remains untouched, and a new Infinite game mode allows continuous progression from game start to the final boss. The Bydo will not evade you this time! Game modes can be played as single player or multiplayer missions, either locally or over Xbox LIVE®. Pull yourself together, save the Earth, and strike down the evil Bydo Empire!

  • Classic arcade action: R-Type Dimensions includes R-Type and R-Type II, two fully playable classic coin-op games.

  • Multiple game modes: Try the Classic game mode with play that exactly mimics the original coin-op experiences, or the all-new Infinite game mode, assuring the completion of your game regardless of skill level. Either mode offers both single player and all-new co-op play (both local and over Xbox LIVE). Switch on-the-fly between 2-D and 3-D graphic modes even during play.

  • Crazy camera: Play from a non-orthogonal camera view, adding a whole new perspective.

  • Cooperative play: New cooperative play uses a simple yet thrilling revive system, and a ship collision feature that can be turned on for added difficulty and sparring.

  • New features: The new stage unlock functionality allows you to have immediate access to your favorite stages, and the new Continue option lets you restart from the last accessed checkpoint when the game's over.
As always for more detailed information on R-Type from XBLA check out the 360-HQ Xbox 360 Games database from the links below for more screenshots, videos/trailers, news and lots more.

New Left 4 Dead 1 DLC Announced for Sep 2009

New Left 4 Dead 1 DLC Announced for Sep 2009
Published by: Dartht33bagger on Tuesday, August 04, 2009
Tagged: Gaming, Live Marketplace, Xbox 360,

If your one of the thousands of people that were angry that Valve would not support Left 4 Dead anymore after Left 4 Dead 2 was announced, then you will be happy to hear this news. Too bad if you have the xbox version of it your going to have to pay 560 microsoft points for it, while the PC gamers will get it for free.

Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Half-Life, Portal, Team Fortress, and Counter-Strike) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced the next major downloadable content (DLC) update for its co-operative zombie thriller, Left 4 Dead (L4D), the #1 new game title on Xbox 360 and PC in 2008. Entitled "Crash Course," the latest DLC delivers new single-player, multiplayer and co-operative gameplay to both platforms. Targeted for release in September, "Crash Course" bridges the gap between the end of the "No Mercy" campaign and the beginning of "Death Toll" in the original game, expanding the game universe with new locations, new dialogue from the original cast, and an explosive finale.

While containing both Survival maps and a Co-operative Campaign, the primary goal of "Crash" is to deliver a complete Versus mode experience in just 30 minutes, resulting in a streamlined version of the game's existing Versus campaigns. A recharge timer for infected teammates has also been added, and item spawn behavior has changed for more balanced gameplay. "Since the release of Left 4 Dead last November, the design team has been excited about creating new experiences for this world and allowing players to do the same, by releasing much of our internal toolset, like the Survival Pack and Authoring Tools," said Gabe Newell. "We're working with the fans toward the ongoing entertainment value of the product."

Left 4 Dead is an action horror game from Valve that blends the social entertainment experience of multiplayer games such as Counter-Strike and Team Fortress with the dramatic, narrative experience made popular in single player action game classics such as the Half-Life series of games. Released in November of 2008, L4D has earned over 50 industry awards from outlets around the world and sold almost 3 million copies worldwide.

Left 4 Dead: Crash Course is targeted for release in September and will be available free of charge on the PC and for 560 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live. For more information, please visit www.l4d.com
