Capcom does a smart thing with this survey, they ask the consumer how they want their new content. Nothing better than asking the buyer of the product.
Back at TGS it was revealed that Capcom would be giving Resident Evil 5 the director's cut treatment. While it's been decided that the game will be arriving in Japan on a physical disc, Capcom is leaving the format decision up to North American and European fans -- DLC or retail? The new content will support Sony's magic wand - PS3 Motion Controller. Never fear, Xboxers, as Takeuchi-san told Kramer in a meeting that the team is "evaluating what they can do for 360 players as well."
"Since you will ultimately be the people buying and playing this new content, we've decided that you should be the ones telling us how to make it available," said Chris Kramer on his Capcom-Unity blog. The blog post also sported a nifty poll allowing Capcom-Unity members to vote for either "a new box and a physical disc," or the ability to "download the new content digitally as soon as it's ready!"
The poll will run for a few weeks, until Capcom has a good idea about what the community wants. Kramer adds, "the demand for DLC in the west is huge. More and more, gamers in North America and Europe want content immediately and are less inclined to be tied to boxes and packages."
A survey has been sent to Xbox 360 owners that provides some interesting insights to Microsoft's ventures into the casual gaming space.
The first part of the survey is the most standard, asking people about their favorite game shows and board games, including Balderdash and Taboo, as well as what they like best about 1 Vs. 100. One interesting aspect of that section is that there may be a paid version of 1 Vs. 100 that will offer better prizes.
The latter part of the survey, however, is extremely intriguing, and an indication that Microsoft may be venturing into a PlayStation Home-like space in which Avatars can congregate and play retro games on classic coin-op cabinets. They queried applicants what name would fit the space best – "Game Room", "RetroCade", "AvatArcade", "RetroGame", "Classics LIVE", and so forth.
Of course, with all the Atari festooning, maybe its a classic Atari compilation game that allows online parties.
