My sons old disc tray has packed in and saw a relatively cheap(er) xbox360e.

However I would like to take all the memory from existing HDD memory and put into the new console.

Can this only be done with a transfer cable or is there any other(cheaper lol) way?

many thanks

I found some info on here from SPPV
The HDD's are the same size just in different outer cases.

If you have a Slim the cheaper and easier route for you to go is hit sites like Craigslist and used game stores and grab a HDD for one of the old fat 360, pop open the case and slide er in, just like putting a new HDD in a laptop

The hard drive's them-self are the same, but as previously stated are in different cases. You would need to buy an Xbox 360 E hard drive case, and swap the hard drive inside of it. They are all standard 2.5" hard drives if I recall right.

I think an even easier way (but please test this first) would be to attach a USB HDD to the xbox 360 and copy everything from the original drive to the External USB Device.. That way all your content will always be available on any console. Smile

I'm positive you can store downloads like DLC and Xbox Live Arcade on USB now.. You never used to be able to. Can someone confirm you can?
