Question for you guys.. my buddy said he can mod these boxes, I bought a 360 box a couple of days ago. He took it apart and still can't get his xp machine to recognize my dvd drive. You guys know what the problem is...? Thanks.
It's a Hitachi drive.

im actually having the same problem, im using the auto flasher 2.1 and no matter what i do it just wont recognize there is a disk in the drive... im thinkin g maybe try the auto flasher 2.0 (since it aparrently works) and just add the firmware for the 3.0

NICE tut!!! I have the samsung though. From what i read the samsung wont be seen by windows even in debug mode. Is there a way that you know of for that drive?
Still nothing i do (even hex editing the exe file in mtkflash for my chipset) will show i have a drive connected to my pc in DOS or winblows.
My chipset is "AMD 1100 rev 0" if that matters
I might try to run in Debug if the wires are the same when i try to flash in DOS.

Ok, after hours and hours of google, i found out my chipset is NOT compatible, but newegg has a pci card that is for all of us with the AMD Boards.

I'll update as soon as I get everything goin... I'm actually thinking about just ordering the underdog though so I can still play on LIVE without having to worry.

ok, i can confirm that the card i listed above DOES work, ive modded 3 and counting. I followed this tut for the samsung. http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=513220 good luck, shouldnt have any problems though.
