I got this program a month or so ago and it helped speed up my boot time quite a bit. Its a small download, totaly free, virus and trojan free, and super easy to use.

Some of you may already know about it but for those that do not its called Soluto and can be downloaded here http://www.soluto.com/.

Basically how it works is this... First you download and install soluto, then restart your PC. As your PC boots up Soluto is at work collecting info on what programs are starting up and running during your bootup. it is also timing everything.

It will give your total boot time once your pc has completely booted up such as 1:45 or what ever your bootup is.

You then click on soluto and it has a few options, one is BOOT,

You click on boot and it will display for you in a very simple to understand format, every program that runs and starts up during your bootup and exactly how much of your bootup time each program adds.

You can then look at each program and either leave it as is, click on pause for that program which means to have that program start up you will need to manually start it, For instance this could be something you do not need up and ready every time you start your PC such as EA game Downloader or something like that.

And the 3rd option is DELAY, this still lets a program start up on its own but will not start it up for a few minutes, not untill your PC is already booted up and you are not bussy doing something on your PC. These are things that you may like to have turned on all the time but it is not a real necessity for it to be running the second you turn your PC on.

It is easy to change things around and back again as everything is listed in 3 rows when ever you open soluto, so you can go the the delay row, find the thing you put a delay on and click it back to the instantly bootup row.

Also if you decide you do not want to use soluto, if you uninstall it, everything goes back to original.

another thing you can do is run soluto, and just writet down everything it shows and recommends and then uninstall it and just do it all manually. Soluto adds like 2 seconds or so to your boot time but I like having it so I can go back every now and then to move things around or notice increases in my boot times.

I would suggest at least giving it a try, its very simple to use and understand, you do not have to be a PC geek to use it. You would be surprised how much faster you can make your boot up. You will find some programs you do not need or use are adding 20 or 30 seconds each to your boot up.

Post back if you try it out and make note of your before soluto boot time and after soluto boot time. Im at about 40 seconds, Nod 32 adds 10 seconds all by itself, I could put that in pause section to bring boot down to 30 seconds, but I like the NOD running constant because Usually when I turn on my PC I instantly hit the net to check Email and news, I do not want NOD antivirus starting up AFTER I hit a few sites and open some emails.

Below is a guys video of Soluto as well, his is beta, Mine is also beta but maybe a slightly newer version as my interface is just slightly different.

Now you want to go to the green boxes and start editing to speed up the boot, Looks like I see skype there using 10 seconds all by itself. If you need it on all the time I would go on that green box where it says skype and select DELAY, this will take it out of the boot and just turn it on a few minutes after you have booted up, Do this to several of the programs that take more than a second and you can really speed up the boot speed.

If you find a program there you do not need running all the time like open office or something like that you can choose PAUSE then you just go turn that program on when you need it.

You can go through the orange boxes and do the same.
