Hi there.

I'm not too familiar with the Xbox 360 yet, and there's alot i don't know.

I've read some threads on these forums, but still can't get my problem solved.

I want to watch Dude Where's My Car on my Xbox 360.
I've watched alot of different films on my USB before, but this wonn't open.
I'm getting the message:
"Can't play this content because it contains audio or video with an unsupported codec.
Status code: 80-C00DF242

I'll provide you with the info i think you might need to help me out, but I don't know if this info is any good though..

I've rightclicked the file and gone into Info

It's MPEG Layer-3
The "video compression" whatever it's called is DivX

Hope you guys can help me out here.
I'm trying to convert it to MP4 now btw.

Thanks in advance!

/Glenn

Hi hlxNOS,

Sorry i missed you topic mate.. Smile

Sounds like you are trying to run a video which has a unsupported CODEC.. Easiest way to fix this would be to re-encode the video yourself.
You could use a FREE program like:

eg. VirtualDUB

A full list of codecs supported on the 360 are listed in this topic/thread here:

Supported Xbox 360 Video/Audio Codecs

hope that helps get you started,

enjoy the sites,

Not sure about on the 360 as I have not messed with it, But often times on the pc. A movie file not playing or not being recognized can be fixed with something as simple as just changing the name. you can try messing with that and see if it helps at all, or if the extension on the name is different than the movies that do work.

For Instance lets say I had a movie file DOOMSDAY.MPEG and It was not recognized on my pc as a movie file. Often I could just rename it to DOOMSDAY.AVI or DOOMSDAY.WMV etc.

One program I use when actually changing a videos format is Youtube Downloader, It is a free program to download and easy to use. I have also heard the program that Hobbs mentioned above referred to often in movie video download forums but I have not had a chance to try it out yet.
