I picked this game up new today for £9, approx 18 us dollars, and i must say what a shocker of a good game , sides from the controls being a bit iffy, and it being quite hard to point your self in the right direction, its looking to be areally enjoyable game, ive only done the first two levels and its brilliant the graphics are gorgous, u have to use fire to dispatch the bad guys, and the way you can grab nearly ne object stick it in a fire then use it to kill is great, it has a first person and third person view, the first person is essential in order to get around easier, the first level your in this building and not to spoil nething its failing apart around your ears, in the first person view you can blink! which i found both amusing and brilliant addition to the game so simple yet quite brilliant, when wounded you have to heal each wound which is usually a large gash on various parts of your body, even the inventory is a joy to look at, as you press down on the d pad, in proper flasher stlye your character flings his trench coat open and you have all your equipment there. As i say the controls are a bit of an issue, but its a really polished game otherwise, reminds a little of silent hill the room, dont know why but it popped into my head while playing it! if u aint checked it out yet its worth a bash at a bargain bin!

When the game first came out the guys over at the G4 forums were saying it was crap. I think it was of the controls of something.

yeah ive read a few reviews of varying degrees i thought this was very amusing: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/130-Alone-in-the-Dark

i agree with a lot of what he says but ive never really played any of the alone in the dark series, so im quite content with this game, its not perfect has a lot wrong with it, but the graphics are cool, and its pretty fun i got it cheap so ill play it anyways. i think people get biased if they pay too much for a game, man when i do buy a new game for 30 or 40 quid im hoping its the best thing ever to jusitify spending the money!

i think the controls are kinda bad but not as bad as the old resident evil series that was some sticky controls, but Alone in the dark wasn't a bad story
