I am having some trouble with streaming of XVid/Divx files with my brand new 360. I have gotten one group of files to work (xvid 1.2 with mp3 audio, I think), but nothing else seems to work right. I have done the update, and have shared the WMP11 library. I have no windows firewall, and it's on a wired network. I either get an error that says the format is not supported, or it cannot connect.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to also have my XBox1 to stream video like before.

Thanks

you have to make sure you have all the proper codecs. If you cant see the video on your computer with windows media player, then you wont be able to see it with the 360.

i use Winamp Remote. it takes a little to get used to but it works very well for me. And one of the most important thing is to look for the codecs if you can't view the video in whatever software you are using. The best thing to do is go surfing the net for codecs.

Go to proper sites that have substantial amount of hits. Don't go to a site in a language that you can't understand. Trust me, it helps in the long run. Most of the time you can find codec packs that include everything you need in one download. I would post the links here but i had to look for them and i feel everyone will be better off doing thier own homework. It pays off in the long run because you will learn WHAT you needed and WHY.

if you still are having problems then private message me and i will give links and such

I can see all videos on my computer and I could see them on the XBox 1. I don't know that installed codecs on the computer are the issue, but I'll try checking that out.

Any other ideas are appreciated.

Thanks

I had to set up a folder and share it with everyone on the home network before mine would work right. also I've had no trouble using Xvid or Divx but the .x264 will not work.

Also they will not work on Media Center you just go to the media tab and go to videos and select new drive. Your shared folder should be listed.

I really can't figure the rhyme or reason for files to work. It looks like the episodes that work are XVid with VBR mp3 audio, but I try movies that appear to be exactly the same, and they don't play correctly. I would just use TVersity, but the video looks crappy, unless I'm missing something in the transcoding settings for that. I would rather not re-encode everything to WMV, but I guess if that's my option, I could (or just have the XBox1 hooked up too).

Thanks for any help.

On the 360, I am going to the Media blade, and under videos. The videos are shared with WMP11, and I can see the folders fine, but when I start all but a couple of TV episodes I have, I get either a connection error or an incompatible content error.

just for shitz and grinz can you try using winamp remote? its free and i haven't had ONE problem with it. i'd recogmend trying that and opening up the same files with that program. tell me if that works...or if you want i am going to be home later and you can transfer one of the files that you are having problems with to me through an instant messenger. I can try it with winamp remote if you can't download it.

we will get to the root of the problem.

So I installed Winamp Remote, but the 360 doesn't even see it, even though I know it's working because the web interface works great. I think I'm just screwed here, but I don't know.

Thanks
