Hello everybody,
I'm member of xbox-hq for a while and also psp-hq.
Now i got a Question for all of you here on 360-hq.
I have a xbox-360 here which starts perfect, boots menu etc.
Put in game, works great for about 5 min.
After 5 min. freezes as if it is overheating.
Even if you dont put a game into the system and just stay within the menu's somewhere after like 7/8 min. it does the same, it freezes up.
First i thought it had something to do with heating, but after a second look and thought i know for shure that it has nothing to do with overheating since it already freezes 5 min. after starting a cold boot.
I whas thinking, maybe firmware or software update required?
Something in that area.
Anybody have any idea what this problem could be?
Could it have something to do with firmware/software updating???
Thanks allot in advance for anybody's reply.
Greetzz,
LeLe
EDIT: I totally forgot to put any info on the 360 itself.
So here is the info, if more required to help, just let me know via pm.

Mine kept freezing so i put washers where the x-clamps are and it is fine now. It heats up pretty quick so in 5 minutes it could overheat. If you disconect the fans it don't take long to get 2 red lights (overheating).
I have an another xbox that keeps freezing, havn't had a look at it yet but will let you know if the washers fix that one also. _________________________________________________________ Opinions are like arse holes, everybody has one and your's stinks.
yeah that sounds like the early stages of the RROD. You can either
1) wait till it gets the RROD then send it to microsoft
2) Send it to microsoft and pay the fee to get it fixed
3) try an x-clamp replacement or RROD repair yourself, some good kits are:
X-Clamp-Fix Darth used this kit and he told me he liked it because you don't have to drill into the metal case
Team Xecuter's RROD kit I haven't talked to anyone who has used these but they look like they could work, I will be writing a review on these very soon for preventative measures of the RROD so I could let you know then
If you have any other questions feel free to ask
Also I edited out your serial number and product id, don't want any shenanigans of people trying to get a repair out of your xbox going on _________________________________________________________

On top of the x-clamp replacement I would try either the 12 volt fan mod or a after market fan, like the whisper fan. Here is a tutorial on how to do the 12volt fan mod. Link The 12 volt fan mod is a little loud but it really works.

Ok, Ihave seen a few different videos with the x clamp fix kit. Some have you drill through the metal case and some dont. What is the deal? The reason I am asking cuz Im going to mod a couple of boxes soon and I am going to do the xclamp fix just to help prevent the rrod. _________________________________________________________ aka IrishGunner

What you need is 8 x 10mm M4 screws and 24 5mm washers. You don't need to drill through anything. Think it just depends what screws etc they are using. They may be old tutorials before people realized you don't have to go through all that effort. _________________________________________________________ Opinions are like arse holes, everybody has one and your's stinks.

Apologies, you need M5 screws, not M4. You can find them at B&Q. _________________________________________________________ Opinions are like arse holes, everybody has one and your's stinks.
