I was thnking about this the other day. Why would people want a wired 360 controller when for a little more money you could have a cool wireless one. So what are some reasons people would want a wired 360 controller

You don't have to worry about the battery dying, (yes you can use the play and charge kit to use your wireless as a wired controller) also you may somehow have interference problems. I'm interested to see how these controllers will work at a lan party situation. Would be horrible to only be able to use 4 controllers that are wireless in the whole house.

Exactly.. I have friends who come over and link up our xboxes already.. It would be a nightmare if only 4 wireless controllers could be used.. We have wired and wireless running most nights.

from what ive read the controllers connect using a randomly assignrd digital key. like the logitec keyboards etc. so you could have thousends of then close by and not notice a bit of interferance.

i use alot of this type of wirless stuff where i work and there is never any issues like that.

so should be ok. i guess the batterys is about the only issue

Now I just have to decide on whether or not to go buy one on the release date.....will be an easy 500 bucks outta pocket just about since the system is 400 plus a 60 dollar game so you are right around 500 after tax.....DAMN.....wonder if there is going to be a huge profit margin on them for me to buy up a few of them and sell them on ebay....thats how i got my free ps2 on the day it came out....bought 4...sold 3....first on the block to have the ps2.....im spoiled now with this modding stuff....im always lookin for a way to get stuff cheaper now and can't fathom spending 60 bucks on a game.

I suppose with a USB wired controller, there is going to be homebrew drivers, etc. to hook it up to a computer.

Ok, guys, I posted this in another topic. All of this is confirmed. ENJOY!

Quote:

Hey, guys, this is coming directly from Xbox Official Magazine (XOM). The Xbox 360 will support the newest build of XNA. FOr those of you who don't know what that is, think of it as Java or Shockwave, a one set line of code and prerequisites that will allow games to come out quicker, and be easier to make.

Now along with XNA (which XP SP1 and 2 already support) comes universal drivers. The wired 360 controller will be able to be used on XP SP2 and higher (which means Vista, the new Windows build due for release next year). Yessir, not only will you be able to plug your Ipod or PSP (and MANY MANY other USB devices that support the windows driver database) into your 360, you can now use your 360 USB devices on your PC. Including the Web Cam, which could save some money for many people.

No word on what File system the Xbox HDD will be running. Perhaps an updated version of FatX, or maybe the new File System that Vista will be running. Could you imagine searching your HDD at home, and getting results just as fast as you would if you were searching the web with Google? Yessir, this next gen is going to be absolutely amazing!

And according to other sources from XOM, the 360 is being designed (or has been anyway) to be able to be expanded as time needs. You now have an upgradable System. So as XNA advances, through live, your Xbox will grow, too. Firmware is going to be the norm for Xbox 360 users.

I hope this sheds some light on your questions, pal.

I'll keep my eyes glued to my next issue (and past issues) for 260 confirmations and rumors. If you want to know anything, just ask me.

ive got the driver disc, when you pop it in it says that you need xp with either sp1 or sp2 to install the drivers.

ive got plain old xp with no sp installed, so i cant install the drivers unless i want to upgrade. i dont really care, i doubt ill bother... i just wanted my controllers now ill never use it on the pc anyway

oh, and if anyone thinks there may be a good modding use for the wired controller, this one has no yellow wire, only the 4 standard usb lines Crying or Very sad but at least the remote already does the power on/off Very Happy
