hey guys, i need to find a 12 volt point on the top side of the motherboard to wire my fans to and my multimeter is at work. I've done some searching , but all i can find are points under the board.

I think there's one in front of the gpu sink in front of the cap, but i'm not sure since i can't test it.

Just bought this 360 recently and i'm going through the paces right now to keep it running cool. Metal grill behind fans removed, side metal casing removed, channeled and sealed the air duct, and i've drilled the grey side piece out on the hdd end to match the rest.(sorry, can't upload any pics, but happy to explain if anyone want's to know how i drilled it. It looks stock.)

All that's left now is to wire the gpu fan for 12 volts. Then if the cpu is still too warm, I'll add a 40mm fan inside to blow through the cpu sink. I figure it'll move the air just the same, but not be as loud as having the cpu fan at 12 volts.

Gonna try to get it done today, cus I only have one game right now and it's a rental, so I need to test everything before it goes back.

Also, which wire is the gpu fans +? I see which two are + and -, just not which + goes for which fan.

Thanks.

Thank you very much for the fast response endless. I thought that would be a 12 volt source, but wasn't sure. If llama says it's reliable, then i trust it.

Thanks again.

No problem, also I'm keen on your little project. Should post some pictures, and results when you get a chance. All us 360 Hq'ers out there love to see what other Hq'ers have come up with. Alternatively if you have the time, and resources you could even write up a tutorial for the site as well.

Either way, glad to be of help.

Ok, so i used that point for my 12+ and it works, but... when i turn the 360 off, the fan keeps going. I was gonna track everything down, to stop it but i figured it's a good thing. This way the 360 will continue to be cooled after i'm done playing.

I'm using an atx psu btw. I don't believe it would keep running with an oem psu. Although it's got me wondering if it will continue to do the same after i mod the psu to go into stand-by when the 360 shuts off.

If i can get the camera working I'd love to take some pics and put togther a tut. I may throw a little something together for now just won't have pics.

Once you mod that psu to turn off with the 360 the fans will stop spinning. I've done some psu mods for water cooling pc projects in the past. Until I added a turn off switch the psu keeps running whatever is connected to it. I just added a push button interrupter in the circuit and it was a quick easy fix.

bro i suggest do not use the 12v inside the main board, use a adapter.
because the power supply of the xbox 360 will be broke or overheat.

Not true, PSU always have overhead, any good PC manufacturer will go to a max of 60% of what the PSU rated output is. You can download programs that will calculate what amount of power is used and they almost never use the rated power, thats why HP Acer etc sell PCs with 300w PSU with video cards rated for 350 or 400w PSU. ATI 5670, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 2 x 1TB HDD, Athlon2 610 x4, 2x LG DVD- RAM only use 225w with no OC running at peak.
360 PSU 203w output, hardware: 1 DVD-RAM, x3 CPU and integrated GPU and 1 HDD. Also you have to consider what the 12v rail is speced to deliver and what it actualy consumes.
