Hi guys, i have a little problem here. As some of you might know, i have a second 2.5" HDD inside my 360 but i changed the mobo and dvd drive to accomodate a new samsung dvd drive and now the 2.5" HDD is not recognized anymore. I have tried reformatting the drive in windows as a FAT32 drive again, and it still won't recognize, but it works perfectly in windows, also i know that the 360 will still work with external HDD's because my usb flash drive works perfectly in there.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is?

Well i was thinking that also but then why would i still be able to run my usb flash drive, considering that the principal of each is the same because they are recognized as usb storage devices, then they should both still work, but my HDD doesn't.

Weird!!!

Maybe they did eliminate the hdd support for .wmv's, so people woouldn't stack them in their machine.

Then why can i still use a usb drive. The principal behind both of them is the same because they both use the same technlogy to connect to the 360, the only difference is the size of the storage of each one. I just can't figure this one out guys.

does anyone know if you can take files (music or movies) from the 360 with windows media connect? I tried converting one of my smallville episodes to wmv on my PC and set the folder to share in WMC and the 360 played it fine.

maybe they will let you store downloaded tv shows on your PC. Movies are not a concern, as you only get to keep them for 24hrs anyway.

I did read that someone from M$ suggested puchasing a mem card for your live account and additional 20GB HDDs for media.

I was thinking of why you were wanting an external HDD in the first place. and coming with a question from a different direction.

As far as your problem goes I would guess that M$ has locked out specific devices from usb and is set not to load the driver that I believe is located in the firmware of the device. Its still usb mass storage device but specifics how the system treats it are not the same.

I'm sure you've tried to plug into different USB ports, if not try that, or maybe if you have a powered USB hub, that might work also, seems like it may not be getting enough power.
