Okay well I have been a paying customer of Embarq/Centurylink for 4 years come this April and have never missed a payment or been late on a payment. Unfortunately this doesn't help my internet connection. For the past 4 years it has been a living nightmare never knowing if my internet connection is going to be good or bad. I have the phone, internet and dish network package and it costs me about 130 a month for this crappy service. Unfortunately they are the only one that services my area so it is them or nothing. I have called them repeatedly and the only time they will actually send out a tech is when I threaten not too pay. Then when the tech gets out there he informs me that the lines are so old and broken in the ground that there is absolutely nothing he can do. The techs have reported this to Centurylink numerous times and they still do nothing. I have filed a BBB complaint against them saying that I want a internet connection that works consistently and also asking for 50% of my payments for the last 4 years to be credited to my Centurylink account. I don't know that anything will come of it but I am sick and tired of paying for a service and not getting what I pay for. Sorry guys for the rant but I just have to get this off my chest. Hopefully something good will happen and they will finally fix the lines but I am not holding my breath. Crying or Very sad

hey reb,

Now that has gotta suck dude. I would be just as pissed off as you for sure after all those years of being a customer. I would have thought whoever you are paying for the phone line (line rental for local calls) would have been responsible for upgrading or repairing your line.

I myself have only just recently upgraded my internet and was pleasantly surprised to find that i am in the top 5% of users for speed in my area.

anyway, hope you get something sorted with it, or atleast they refund you for your defunct service over the past few years in some way shape or form.

Been there dude, Know what your feeling, Had this issue with ATT for a little over a year, getting half the speed I was paying for and losing the signal a bunch.

Then upgraded to Uverse and they came out and rewired the telephone poles on the entire street just for me.

Now I get nice fast speeds and have not been kicked off line once. I also get the bundle, at about the same price as you with the basic cable package but thats going up by about 30 bucks come february, Nice service but way overpriced, but at least there are no contracts, Its month by month.

But still planning on changing to another service to cut costs.

I lived in the Desert Mountains one summer, the lines were so bad that when it got hot in the day time you could not get a phone signal at all, no cell service and land line only clicking because of the heat on the old lines, but would work durning the night.
