hey all, i tried hooking up my 360 to go on live today, and at the network test area, it passes the IP address check and the DNS check and gets stuck at MTU, where it says failed.

now wat i wanted to know is that, how is this important, and how can i fix this problem. i read in a few places that there is to increase the MTU of your connection, but i couldnt understand it, so can anyone help in this matter.

I have a 256Kbps broadband cable connection, and a linksys WRT54G router, which i saw on the xbox site is compatible with the 360. but i connect the 360 through a wired connection and setup the IP address and DSN server address's manually.

so you would have to edit the MTU settings in your router,

because its a linksys go into your web browser and type 192.168.1.1 it should come up with a username and password, both of them should be "admin" (unless you changed it)

Then it should be under the Setup, then Basic Setup tab,

It will say MTU (change it to manual) and change the size, I think the right size for xbox live is 1385-1500, I might have to do some more research to be certain. I will look into this more for you if that doesn't work.

ah thank you so much, ill try it out and let u know if it works. also does changing the setting from the router work, considering my ISP might have a different setting, or is it dependent on the router
