Now that MS has announced the Fall dashboard update allowing us to copy games directly onto the HDD, I've got one question:

Will we be able to copy the games onto THESE HDD's? Or will these still just be for content?

Highly Doubtful. You will only be able to copy games to your Xbox 360's Hard drive and not a portable one. Probably because Microsoft doesn't want to make it easier for pirates to get games. Although having a portable hard drive for your own media (music, videos, pics) is great! Way better then streaming I find.

I myself have a 500gb hard drive that i formatted with this tutorial and it is great.

hi,

i have just formatted my external drive successfully and my 360 recognises the drive. i can play music but i get an error when trying to watch an .avi
The error is as follows:

"A media update is required to play this content. To get the update, sign into xbox live and play the content again."
"Status code: 51-C00DF236"

My problem is that i can't connect to live because i am banned!
How can i play .avi files please?

As far as I know you cant. You need xbox live xvid update otherwise your 360 wont support it (no codecs without update)

Sorry to say your SOL, ever since the NXE M$ made it so you have to be connected to live to watch videos
