Hey, guys. I have an old Samsung MS-25 drive, so I was under the impression I didn't even have to worry about AP2.5.
At any rate: I got my backup of NFS: Hot Pursuit. It said 'Play DVD', so I popped in my boot disk, and threw the NFS disk back in and it started. Asked if I wanted to update, so I pressed okay... and either it restarted or just stopped reading it, because eventually it just gave me an error screen that continues to pop up before I even get to my dashboard.
(So, I can't clear my cache or anything of the sort.)
Now I get a screen that tells me that it failed to install the update, and to put in a disk and it will update. I put in the NFS disk and it won't read it for some reason.
I heard that Fable 3 is in the same wave as NFS, and thus will require the same update. But alas, my copy of Fable 3 doesn't require me to update the Dashboard, and as such will not work with updating my Xbox.
Is there anything I can do other than going out and renting NFS: Hot Pursuit to update my Xbox?
Or can I just download a patch straight from Microsoft and burn it to a disk?
Okay so you modded your 360 and I am under the impression you are logging into xbox live with it? If yes then don't do that. Microsoft will catch you and ban your account faster then you can say what happened? I would request a disk from Microsoft and update it that way. But yeah keep your modded 360 off xbox live. If you really want to go on xbox live pick yourself up a cheap 360 at a pawn store or something and just use it for xbox live and keep the modded one off xbox live. That's my suggestion for you. _________________________________________________________
Oh and by the way we here at 360HQ do not support pirating of any kind since we believe the makers of these fantastic games deserve every dollar they can get. That said if you don't have the original copy of the game then please don't ask for help. Making a backup copy of your original in order to keep the original in good shape is fine and dandy but illegal backup copies is a very big no no! _________________________________________________________
Get the original copy and try. It was a game title update, not a console update that failed.
