I have had my xbox 360 for nearly a year i have been playing it without any problems what so ever. I turned it on one day and i noticed that it was making purple and pink sploches on the screen. About 4-5 days after that started happening it just didn't send any video output at all. I turn it on and the audio works and the green ring light up put the video just says No signal as if it were off. I don't think that it is my T.V (40 inch 1080I Res) because I plugged in my HD Sony Video Camera into the HDMI Port and it worked perfectly (with no purple sploches.) I also bought a new HDMI Cable (Microsoft Xbox 360 Brand) I swapped it out for the one i got with my xbox and still no luck. Any help? Sad

It's a known problem with the 360. Not sure of the exact cause but it's mainly to do with microsoft saving money when they made them. Hope you have warranty, if not sell it on ebay. I haven't seen anywhere about how to fix it on the net.

Sorry Sad

What causes it is the video encoder chip goes bad over time so it doesn't output any video but still outputs audio. The xbox doesn't find anything wrong with it so it doesn't give any errors.

Microsoft sends you a box with return shipping paid for when sending it in to the repair center. Unless your system is no longer under warranty?

If you are still under warranty they send you a prepaid shipping box and the repairs are free. I called a few days ago. Thx for explaining what was wrong I still hadn't understood.
