The man, the myth, the legend, OZZY will be on Guitar Hero World Tour:
After performing in countless sold-out arenas and amphitheaters throughout the world, rock's defining frontman Ozzy Osbourne – who has sold over 100 million records worldwide in his four decade career – will be playing to a new audience this fall as he makes his videogame debut in Activision Publishing, Inc.'s (Nasdaq: ATVI) Guitar Hero World Tour.
Budding rockstars around the world will have the opportunity to live out their ultimate fantasy on the virtual OZZFest stage, playing as Ozzy, or alongside him, as he wails to iconic rock track "Crazy Train" and "Mr. Crowley," both from his quintuple platinum debut solo album Blizzard of Ozz. OZZFest, now it its 13th year, has also been created digitally as an in-game venue exclusively for Guitar Hero World Tour to host the heavy metal rock legend.
Joining Ozzy in Guitar Hero World Tour as a playable character is his lead axe-shredder and founder of Black Label Society, Zakk Wylde, performing their hit track "Stillborn."
In addition to Metallica releasing their highly anticipated Death Magnetic album in its entirety as downloadable content in both Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock and Guitar Hero World Tour, the 2008 OZZFest performers and GRAMMY winning recording artists will be appearing for their on-disc encore with "Trapped Under Ice." Finally, taking the Guitar Hero stage for the first time is fellow OZZFest artist, System of a Down with their 2006 GRAMMY for Best Hard Rock Performance winning single "B.Y.O.B."
When the house lights go down this fall, a new generation of guitarists, drummers and fearless frontmen will come together and rock with Guitar Hero World Tour. With 10 million copy's sold Call of Duty 4 has moved in to an exclusive league that vary few games have or will ever make it to, games like Guitar Hero III, Halo 3, and Grand Theft Auto IV and with a bit of luck maybe Call Of Duty 5 will join the club if producer Tryarch can reproduce the Inifinity Ward magic.
Cnet reported that "Infinity Ward studio head Vince Zampella didn't know exactly how many units the game had sold on each platform it is available on--the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC--but did say that COD 4 had been most successful on the Xbox."
The out look for the COD series is good but Cnet reported "Zampella acknowledged that COD 4 has set the bar very high for his studio, and it's hard to imagine Infinity Ward being able to come right back with another 10 million-seller but, COD 4 still has some juice left. He suggested that the game is still selling, that it's map pack add-on has sold 1.5 million copies, and that the main game itself is expected to sell a lot more copies this holiday season.
In a big event for Education is Freedom a teenager, Daniel Johnson, has beaten the world record for highest score on a Guitar Hero III track, knocking up 890,971 points on “Through the Fire and Flames” by Dragon force at Expert Level.
"Daniel Johnson beat the Guinness World Record for high score on a single song for “Guitar Hero III” when he attended the Guitar Hero 24-Hour Marathon presented by Blockbuster. Daniel played on a XBOX 360 and scored 890,971, beating the previous record by more than 10,000 points while playing “Through the Fire and Flames” by Dragon force at the Expert Level on his first attempt."
When asked what he thought about breaking the world record, Daniel said, “I’m glad that I had the opportunity to break the record and help people learn about Education is Freedom.”
The previous record was held by Chris Chike who achieved a score of 880,920 in March 2008.
For some time now we have seen a battle being played out between Guitar Hero III and Rock Band and it looks like the Guitar Hero franchise might be taking notes on whats helping Rock Band pull out in front.
In an interview with Conde Nast Portfolio magazine Activisions CEO Bobby Kotick has been quoted as saying "It's not just about guitars, we'll include a lot of other instruments, vocals. It will help us expand internationally. It's the first game we've had in which we can use local content and local bands."
I still feel this battle has more to do with the available DLC and that it is the major factor in who will come out on top but as we all know every little bit helps.
