Here we go with the new numbers for console sales and such and it looks like the world has put the Xbox 360 at the top of the charts ware it belongs, i like to think this is because of the HQ rather we had anything to do with it or not.
VG247 reports: Wedbush Morgan’s Michael Pachter just put out his US console sales estimate for April, putting Wii at 480,000 units, 360 and 275,000, and PS3 at 175,000 PS3 consoles.
The analyst predicted another tough comp for the month, saying he expects sales of $550 million, down 17% compared to last year’s $660 million.
“April presents another month of difficult comparisons (after March’s –17%), with last year’s spectacular launches of Take-Two’s Grand Theft Auto IV selling 2.9 million units and Nintendo’s Mario Kart Wii selling 1.1 million units (combined for $235 million and 36% of April 2008 total sales),” Pachter said in a note.
When it comes to showing honer to a classic game with style i can think of no better way then to give it its own bundle, so check out the Kotaku report on the newest XBOX 360 bundle to hit the shelfs.
Happy birthday, Grand Theft Auto IV. You're one year old today. Microsoft got you an Xbox 360 Elite "Limited Anniversary Edition" bundle to promote the occasion. But brace for pack-in disappointment...
While the latest Xbox 360 Elite package packs in a copy of Grand Theft Auto IV, it doesn't appear to offer a complimentary copy of Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned as we'd hoped. Instead, the birthday bundle packs in two limited edition stickers, one featuring the GTA IV logo, the other featuring the Liberty City Swingers team logo.
Microsoft reps still have not yet responded to requests for clarification on the when, where and how much for the Xbox 360 Elite "Limited Anniversary Edition" bundle, but we'd expect an announcement soon. Given the dual-language nature of the package, this could be limited to our neighbors to the north, but that's just speculation.
If you have the GTA IV content you wont have a hard time seeing this as a fact, i for one found this to be not only the most i would pay for DLC but the best thing i have spent MS points on to date.
Kotaku.com reports: Sadly, because it's a digital download, we don't know exactly how many copies of Lost & Damned Microsoft and Rockstar managed to sell. We do know, however, it's more than 323,000.
Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg let slip the information in an interview with GameDaily - in which he calls the Grand Theft Auto IV expansion "the most successful game addon content we've ever launched" - saying "If that content was sold at retail, it would be one of the best sellers across all platforms. It would have outsold Killzone 2".
Interesting. Not for the "outsold" argument (which is hardly fair, since L&D was out for half of February while Killzone 2 was only out for a few days), but for the Lost & Damned sales ballpark. Nice to get one for a downloadable game, even if it still leaves us wondering...
Once i had played the Lost & Damned i knew it was going to be big but just how big it would become was something i don't think any one saw coming, just one more thing to add to your list of reasons to buy this kick @$$ download.
Kotaku.com reported: Being both popular and, for a piece of downloadable content, expensive, would it surprise you to learn that Grand Theft Auto IV expansion Lost & damned has set a new Xbox Live revenue record?
It shouldn't. Because it has. According to Microsoft, the expansion has "eclipsed first-day revenue for all previous downloadable content on Xbox LIVE". Which means more money was spent on it than any other piece of DLC in its first 24 hours on sale.
Kind of meaningless without sales figures or a previous record holder to back it up, but then at least other games now know who's top dog when it comes to DLC cash money intake.
We all new Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned would be a huge hit but who knew it would be just as big a download, coming in at a two GB this pack is said to sport 10 hours of new game play and is celebrated with new content for your avatar as well.
