Dash Launch v0.01 has just been released by Team XeDev which will let you boot homebrew software directly from the dashboard.
What It Does:
waits for bootanim to finish, then launches a con (you don't see NXE dash)
currently launch.xex is built to launch xexmenu con at
Hdd:Content000000000000000C0DE99990080000C0DE99990F586558
Install:
-put launch.xex in the root of your hard drive's content partition
-add the included patches to freeboot/xbr patchset (there is a bonus in there for those who don't have it)
xex source is included, in it's current form it does the minimal amount of work to launch the con if it's not present it should fail to dash with "could not load" error message
Team XeDEV have just released their new homebrew Xbox360 dashboard with FTP support and many more features.
You might be wondering why it's XeDEV who are releasing this.. Since some people left the team, they don't want to retain the "freexex" name anymore. Also changed the name to XeXmenu (this is because XeXLoader is now much more of a menu than just a loader). So enjoy the new stuff :
What's news/fixed:
- Gametitle extraction from NXEART if possible (toggle)
- Games with more than just one XEX will show up multiple times
* Embedded FTP Server to transfer your stuff directly from your computer
- Use xbox:xbox@ip:21
* Use FTP to read/write/delete your onboard flash
- Only user flash/flash is able to do that!
* Support for all found XEX files. Not just default.xex (toggle)
* Shows the content of any GAMES folder on any device
- Use GAMES, APPLICATIONS, EMULATORS for auto discovery menu on each device
* Switch between games/apps/emus in the discovery menu using RB/LB
* Auto scale skins for most resolutions (toggle)
* Different help screens for each menu
* Use DPad to switch between devices while browsing files
* Xbox1 compatibility partition support (if exists)
- Xbox1 partition known as "HddX"
* Alphanumeric listing for files
* No more XEX auto patching when copying DVDs
* Manual XEX patching for freeBOOT users
* Configuration menu
* Real XBox save system for the configuration
- Gamesave known as "Unkown Xbox Game"
* Chose between different skins from the configuration menu
* Support for own skins
* many more things we can't remember
Press "BACK" for detailed help pages!
Note: If you only get a black screen on startup try to delete the XeXmenu savegame known as "Unknown Xbox Game" using system tab in dash.
There are some issues with the FTP upload speed for some people at the moment. We're still working on that. This will be fixed in further releases!
A new version of XBReboot has been released with a new patch (PIRS support) and fixed XeLL.
XBReboot is an image you can flash on your onboard NAND that will allow you to 'reboot' a JTAG-exploitable 360 in a patched 8955 kernel which makes homebrew XDK possible (unsigned XEXs etc).
The released image is just for Xenon motherboards, but the readme states it could easily be made for other 16mb-nand motherboards, so I guess we'll see support for those soon.
Ikari has just released the first version of 'freeBOOT' for xenon (v1) and falcon (v3) consoles with JTAG/SMC-Hack. This hasn't been tested yet, use at own risk.
Introduction Finally, here it is - freeBOOT, a rebooter for the Microsoft Xbox 360. This version of freeBOOT allows you to reboot into kernel 2.0.8498 on a Xenon or Falcon console, which can be exploited by the JTAG hack. Support for Zephyr, Opus, and Jasper consoles will follow shortly.
As freeBOOT needs a second flash memory to store kernel 2.0.8498 and associated data, a Cygnos360 is required at the moment.
Read through the following instructions carefully. Building your own images is yet a complicated task involving many steps. Future versions of freeBOOT will be easier to build.
Power on your Xbox 360. If everything went correctly, you should see the blue LED light up a few seconds later, followed by the usual boot animation. If you power on your Xbox 360 with the DVD tray eject button, XeLL will be loaded instead.
Credits
Writing freeBOOT would not have been possible without the great work done by many hackers. Kudoz to arnezami, Redline99, Robinsod, SeventhSon, Tiros, tmbinc, xorloser, and anyone else I may have missed.
What's next
Features planned for the next release(s):
-support for all consoles
-update to the latest kernel
