EA has Finlay let us have some in game footage of the new boxing game Facebreaker and though it looks fast pace and kind of fun it really is not so much a boxing game.
EA might have been going for more of a Street Fighter style but with boxing gloves as you can see by the the juggle punching and telaporting, while I'm sure the game will find its fan base i cant help but feel this game missed its mark.
Here is the first trailer for recently announced cartoon boxing game, Facebreaker, published by EA.
EAs first real shot at a game made to reach the mass-market and boost sells, enjoy the lack of real game play footage.
EA Sports is focusing on the casual market with games like arcade-style boxing game FaceBreaker.
In a move to grab the Nintendo Wii consumers EA Sports has said “There will be more announcements that will be, if you will, licensed intellectual property that will be, quite frankly, looking at the more casual consumer that we see as a bigger force in the business.
We need to do better on the Nintendo platforms, and we intend to do that. It's a different type of game mechanic that the Nintendo Wii consumer, in particular, can play."
But dont flipout on me now, EA Sports is still going to be pushing out the hardcore games like Fight Night. Round 3 as you can see in this statement.
“Fight Night is a great franchise, you bet we're gonna continue to create games like Fight Night. Round 3 was a phenomenal game for us and did around $140 million in revenue on a worldwide basis.”
I would guess that the announcement of BOOM BLOX, the first game to arrive from the Spielberg-EA partnership for the Wii is part of the Casual Market plan.
EA SPORTS has announced a new arcade boxing game.
No screenshots have been seen but here is what EA had to say about this new game,
"We're very excited to announce FaceBreaker, an all-new franchise from EA SPORTS that is fun, fresh and innovative," said Peter Moore, president, EA SPORTS. "FaceBreaker reinvigorates one of the great genres in sports videogames. Arcade boxing takes me back to my roots in this industry, and this game signals our shift to adding more approachable fun to our product lineup. In no time at all, you'll be picking up the controllers and knocking your opponent around the ring, smashing faces, and having a riot."
The renaissance of the arcade boxing genre is upon us. Created by the same team that developed the award-winning Fight Night Round 3, FaceBreaker offers irreverent fun, immersive gameplay and eye-popping stylized graphics. In this in-your-face, arcade world full of ego-wielding characters, each boxer comes to life with unique attributes and distinct personal style, including Romeo, a Latin lover known for his pelvic thrusts, and Molotov, an oversized Russian demolitions expert with a penchant for fighting dirty. Add a little personal motivation to your fight by uploading a photo of your face to create a realistic likeness using Photo Game Face, and go toe-to-toe with a real-life friend or foe.
Laugh out loud as you pummel your opponent with a barrage of blows to the face and watch in satisfaction as your progress is illustrated by real-time facial deformation. With haymakers, face shots and body blows, wait for the right moment to drop a super punch to make your presence known. Taunt your adversaries and flaunt your talent, by tying one hand behind your back to add ultimate humiliation to your bout. In FaceBreaker, it just feels good to rearrange your opponent's face.
