Warner Bros. is going to appeal the previous decision made by the Australian Classification Board to refuse Mortal Kombat 9 from classification and restricting it from sale.
Warner Bros. have been successful with previous appeals on games like F.E.A.R. 2 so lets keep our fingers crossed, and hopefully we will see this game on shelves in Australian unaltered and raw.
The original versions of the MK franchise have always been available in Australia, but since the Australian Classification Board gave the Mortal Kombat 9 remake a ‘Refused Classification’ rating last week, Australian's are shaking their heads in disgust once again at the lack of a 18+ video game rating in Australia. In Australia the highest rating for a video game is currently MA15+ and it doesn't look like it's going to change anytime soon.
Following yesterday's official announcement of F.E.A.R. 3, publisher Warner Bros. has released a live-action trailer to reveal the horror shooter sequel's story. F.E.A.R. 3 will be released on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this fall.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announces F.E.A.R. 3, a heart-pounding paranormal horror first person shooter unleashing intense combat, compelling narrative and co-op play that evolves the franchise. F.E.A.R. 3 is set to release on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, and Windows PC in fall 2010.
Alma returns in F.E.A.R. 3 but this time her sons Point Man and Paxton Fettel introduce divergent co-op, giving players distinctly different abilities affecting their own play as well as the experience of their co-op partner. Gamers participate in single player or co-op modes as Point Man, a genetically enhanced super soldier originally introduced in F.E.A.R., or they can play cooperatively as his conniving brother Paxton Fettel, whose incredible telekinetic power has given him life beyond the grave. The game is developed by Day 1 Studios, developer of the original F.E.A.R. console games in collaboration with Monolith Studios.
“Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is evolving the F.E.A.R. brand with top horror, co-op and first person shooter combat in F.E.A.R. 3,” said Martin Tremblay, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “Monolith Productions has passed the torch to Day 1 Studios to create a quality, powerful game that stays true to the roots of the F.E.A.R. franchise but takes players to a heightened level of gameplay.”
To further ensure extreme terror in F.E.A.R. 3, legendary horror director John Carpenter (Halloween, Village of the Damned) and critically acclaimed horror comic and script writer Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) have provided consultation to enhance several of the game’s frightening aspects. Steve Niles co-wrote the game script with the development team and John Carpenter provided his expertise in crafting the in-game cinematics.
“After working closely with Monolith, Day 1 is honored to bring the next iteration of the F.E.A.R. franchise to gamers with key elements of the past games yet providing fresh combat and horror experiences in F.E.A.R. 3,” said Denny Thorley, Founder and President, Day 1 Studios. “Players can look forward to new features such as divergent co-op, an evolved cover system, and more scares in F.E.A.R. 3.

Got to say despite the way to dark look and slow pace i did enjoy beating the first F.E.A.R. game and hope they can pull off a good game with out the lack of light this time, maybe the demo will let us know for sure.
CVG reports the following: Warner Bros has confirmed that a single-player demo fro F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin will be available on Xbox Live Marketplace, PC and PSN begining January 22.
Developer Monolith claims the sequel sports "second to none" enemy AI, which if you've played the first game is actually quite believable.
"The F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin demo will offer a glimpse of the action, terror and suspense of the full retail version of the game," says Warner's blurb. "Players will maneuver through bloodstained corridors and hallways from several locations in the game, as they combat through various parts of the city of Auburn , which now lays in ruin after the catastrophic explosion that rocked the finale of F.E.A.R."
Here is just one more game that will be getting pushed back due to the flood that is already starting to hit and from what i read here it sounds like there not even going to try to lock horns with Gears of War 2 even though the games are not all that similar.
Codemasters has told Eurogamer the following: PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 demos will appear roughly a month before launch.
"Damnation is being rescheduled for an early 2009 release," a Codemasters spokesperson told us.
"The game will be much stronger and better as a result, and will also give people time to get all the pre-holiday releases out the way - ready for the fresh (and vertical) gaming experience that Damnation offers."
The most threatening of those "pre-holiday releases" will be Gears of War 2, as Damnation shares the same Unreal Engine 3 foundation and rather similar visuals and mechanics as a result.
But there are differences; Damnation ditches a cover system in favour of vertical gameplay, where players climb up buildings, leap between ledges and slide down zip wires during battle. Pace has replaced patience.
The setting is a steampunk alternate history of the American Civil war, and the levels have opened into giant three hour-long treks and course-planning puzzles, where the goal can be seen from the outset, and vice versa. And there are motorbikes - ones that can ride along walls.
The tactical rescheduling also moves Damnation away from Call of Duty: World at War, Resistance 2 and Left 4 Dead. But February 2009 happens to harbour Killzone 2 and to a lesser extent F.E.A.R. 2, which will present problems of their own.
