"Dig Dug," the Bandai-Namco classic originally released in 1981 is launching on Xbox Live Arcade Wednesdays, tomorrow, October 11. Eliminate the monsters deep beneath Earth's surface by dropping rocks on them or blowing them up until they pop!
GAME FOCUS:
Dig tunnels and defeat enemies. Use your harpoon to inflate and pop enemies or crush them with rocks! Earn bonus points by crushing multiple enemies with one rock!
GAME FEATURES:
Enhanced graphics including HDTV support (720p, 480p), 12 Xbox Live Achievements and online Leaderboards make this version of the classic game the best yet.

Prey gets its first Marketplace downloads. From today all you Prey fans can now grab a whole host of New content for use online which include new characters and maps.
Each item is a separate download rather than a package and here is what is available:
Multiplayer Characters
Becky:- A female victim of the Sphere. She escaped, but finds herself in even more trouble!
Elhuit:- The leader of the hidden. Don't let the dress fool you. She's tough.
Hunter:- A minion of the Sphere. No sense just letting all the humans have the fun.
Elite:- Another type of hunter. Forced by the Sphere to do its bidding.
Jen:- Tommy's girlfriend. Those years running a bar are useful when kicking ass.
Multiplayer Maps
Gravity Labs:- Snipers get an edge this time around on the floating extension of the Spindle. Best with 6 players.
Space Oddity:- Control the gravity crossover with the Launcher to rack up kills. Best with 4 players.
Topillogical:- 360 degree run-and-gun inside a giant sphere of death. Best with 4 players.
Tunnel Rat:- Use your Spirit Attack to gain the advantage in the gravity map. Up to 8 players.
So I hear you all asking 'How much for each item?' Well i'm happy to tell you that all you Prey fans will not be getting ripped off with high priced downloads. In fact all of these downloads are Absolutely FREE! Now how about that for looking after the fans? So what are you lot waiting for? Fire up them 360's and get downloading.

The long awaited Phantasy Star Universe will be hitting Xbox Live (for Gold members) on Oct.11th. The beta client will only be available for 2 SHORT days so download as soon as possible. It will last till the 18th.
"SEGA is proud to announce the start of the Open Beta for Xbox 360 on October 11th!. This will be the first chance to play the newest addition to the long running Phantasy Star series. The Beta test period is expected to run until October 18th and will allow participants to play through a portion of the online game. Getting started is extremely easy! If you want to participate you must have an active Xbox Live Gold account. The Beta will be available for download on the Xbox Marketplace between October 11th and October 12th. Once you have the beta downloaded, you'll be able to play immediately! Once online, we highly recommend the following activities to get the most out of this Open Beta period:
- Create Your Character - Construct the perfect avatar with the robust Character Creation tool that enables players to change their character's body shape and dimensions, hairstyle and color, facial structure and features, and more!
- Meet New People - Head out to the lobby and meet new people! Visit various shops for weapons, clothing and other items and then join or create a squad to embark on missions with new friends.
- Explore the Universe - With three expansive planets to explore, discover the adventures that lie ahead on Parum, Neudaiz, and Moatoob.
- My Room - Create your personal online space by adding items and elements from your adventures, and decorating your My Room with various themes and wallpaper. In here, your Partner Machinery is able to create new weapons and items for you to use in battle, trade with friends, or sell for a profit. Players can also exchange Partner Cards and visit friends in their My Room!
- Customize Your Look - Head to one of the various Clothing or Parts shops located across the Universe and outfit your character with the newest styles.
- Try Different Job Types - Speak to the Guardian Representative located on the fifth floor of the Guardian's Colony to freely change between the three class types: Hunter, Ranger, and Force.
- Create and Sell Items - Craft items from the base materials you find during your adventures using your Partner Machinery. You can even sell these items within player-run Shops!"
Someone in the Microsoft Vista Media Center team has reported that the XBOX 360 will be able to playback VC-1 video soon:
"Yep - we're enabling VC-1 streaming to Xbox 360; it's turned off in the build you have now, but it will be turned on for release."
This mean that VC-1 codec is probably already included in the XBOX360. It probably made it's way in the console during one of the latest Dashboard update. Could H.264/MPEG-4 AVC codec be also already included in the console? VC-1 and H.264/MPEG-4 AVC are both mandatory for hd-dvd/blue-ray... so if the hd-dvd drive is available at the end of November (according to EB-Games ) then both video format should be playable on the XBOX 360 at that time.
Let hope that Microsoft will allow streaming of both format to the 360 extender when Vista is released.
For reference, it was annonced on July 12 2006 that ATI was chosen to provide the h.264 video decoder for the xbox 360.

Here are Revised bats for the "Maximus-Garyopa_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_2_Stealth" package previously released. just copy this bats over the existing ones into your drive.
The previous bats have a bug with errorlevel variable (my mistake, not garyOPA).
NOTE: If you have sucessfully flashed your drive with the 2.2 Stealth package NO NEED TO REFLASH AGAIN SINCE THERE IS NO PROBLEM ON THE FLASHED DRIVE.
For new drives you flash it is better to have this revisted bats to avoid possible problems (NONE Reported here).
Also if you RE-DOWNLOAD the "Maximus-Garyopa_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_2_Stealth" package from the "usual places" will contain the revised bats (Added on 9-Oct-2006).

Microsoft’s COO has reiterated that the software giant “believes” in the gaming space, even though the Xbox 360 continues to be a money-losing business—after all, “it took seven, eight, or nine years before Windows was profitable.”
Since Microsoft entered the console market in 2001, the Xbox strategy has been one of heavy investment, leading to significant losses in its home and entertainment division.
The losses are clear in recent financial reports. For fiscal year 2005, Microsoft’s game division posted a $485 million net loss. In fiscal 2006, ended June 30, 2006, the division lost $1.26 billion.
Microsoft COO Kevin Turner (pictured) told San Jose Mercury News journalist Dean Takahashi that the heavy losses are all part of making Microsoft an increasingly viable player in the games space.
