GTA IV is no 10/10, Flaws & Greed

" First off I will admit I am a GTA series fan and personally feel GTA IV is about the most fun and entertaining single player game I have ever played, I am loving it! The multi-player is not my favorite multi-player game but is very fun.
I love the game play, Graphics, Dialogue and most everything else.
With that said, I have to be honest and say as good as GTA IV is, it is not a 10/10. Any reputable gaming site that claims this is full of shit.
A 10/10 (in my opinion) means Perfection! I have not found a game as of yet that can claim a 10.
I think a 9/10 is fair for GTA IV, but like the richter scale for earthquakes, a jump from 9 to a 10 is a big leap

So what is it about GTA IV that keeps it from achieving a 10?
Flaws.. These are very minor but do hold the game back.
First would be Pop-Ups. plants, people, cars, buildings etc that pop up on screen, cars that just fade out or in on a road in the distance or you run into a park area, stop and over several second you see plants popping out of the ground around you. Not a neglect thing on R* part, I feel the 360 would need more memory and power to be able to do away with this.
Driving camera control, I like the camera to be up above the car just a little so I can see where I am going, the camera constantly drifts back down behind the car, if on a hill you cant see past the trunk, I have to constantly hold the camera up while driving and shooting on the road. Why cant I put the camera up to a level I like, let go of the stick and have the camera stay. Having to continuously hold the camera in position is frustrating and is the #1 thing I wish was fixed.
Can not listen to your HDD music as a station!
Have you noticed you can no longer pick your own music as a radio station in game? Are you curious why they left that feature out? The reason for this is GREED. It is because of a new feature in game called ZIT, if you have registered at rockstars social club ('' . reduceurl("http://socialclub.rockstargames.com/") . '') online you can use this feature. It works like this, you are in game driving and hear a cool song on the radio, you think "wow what is that song?" you can pull up your in game cell phone in game (while song is still playing) and dial ZIT-555-0100, This will send a message to your real world account at the social club with a sample of the song, its name and band and a link to amazon.com where you can buy the song!!. You see, rockstar wants you to listen to the music they put in game, hopefuly buy some of it and I'm sure they get a commission on any music sold to gta players or people linking to amazon from the social club. Now if Rockstar was to let you listen to your own music in game you would not be listening to their music and potentially buying music from amazon would you. This is pure greed and pisses me off, Rock star intentionally takes away a great feature from the game and the players enjoyment in hopes of making an extra dollar. To me this is a slap in the face. Its a Microsoft type move. I will now be calling Rock Star Rock $tar. I have no problem with the feature, I think is is a cool idea, but to restrict my music so I can only listen to what you are selling? Come on.
I know I can just listen to my own music manualy, but it does not work on the ingame radios and takes you out of the game a bit.
So, a great game? Damn right! A 10/10? Hell no! "

 | Any flaw restricts the designation of PERFECT, Perfect as in flawless. I just mentioned the main things that bugged me, I did not mention the sloppy AI, often on missions your partner getting stuck somewhere or not moving if he falls behind, Alot of filler missions not related to the story in any way but just there to add to the number of missions, camera slow to catch up when you make a quick turn or when in a helicopter and turn 180, it takes a long time for the camera to get back into possition, realy slowing down the fight when in a multiplayer game, Being forced all the way back to your single player game if the multiplayer game closes out making you go through the reload to single player and going through the cell phone commands then more loading all over again. So no the game is not perfect, They have not made a perfect game as of yet. As far as the music ingame, it not being there is not the big let down, it is why it is not there, so Rockstar can try to sell you music, the capability is there they just dont want you using it. Like I said it is a fantastic game, I think it deserves a 9.5, dont get all upset because I dont feel it is perfect.

I agree with both of you (gamexxover and trigun101).. I found GTA IV to be great fun still on one hand and it had plenty of new features to make your head spin but on the other hand some new features could piss just about anyone off.
One thing i must mention is that everyone was back to their favorite OTHER games a bit too quickly. For 2 days straight 60+ people on my list were playing GTA IV then suddenly it all stopped. I know its a popular game and all and i still rate it if you like the Grand Theft Auto series but it brings nothing ground breaking to the table apart from it's huge amount of adult content.
For GOTY (game of the year) I definitely wouldn't put it up against BIOSHOCK or COD 4 for that matter.
The main reason they dont have in-game music is because no doubt they will offer downloadable content.. (Dont quote me on this) This is just my guess.
Finally, my last 2 cents.. The main reason the graphics werent so MIND BLOWING is because once again its multi platform..

 | For you to down grade GTA 4 for these small things is trivial, just because the game doesnt have the ability to let you listen to your own music in the game is not a reason to say that the game isnt perfect, you want to listen to your music while playing turn on a f**king radio. To complain about the popins of objects is stupid, it should be expected that the game would have some objects load in and pop up in the middle of the game, you are playing a beautifully designed game with picture perfect graphics with almost no load screens or load time, you try finding games out there with this ability. Also just because you are having a hard time with the camera system doesnt mean the rest of us are, would you like to go back to the old ways with every thing at a birds eye view. this game is perfect and for you to say it isnt over such trivial small things makes you as bad as that X-play show on G4.

| | Maybe, I am very curious about the possiblility of updated Vice City and San Andreas areas as DLC, As they are constantly refered to in GTA IV, in speach and in billboards and airline tickets. I bet they could just use the same maps and upgrade it to use the new graphics engine and replace vehicles etc.

| | ya even with all the old stuff missing I still think it is a fantastic game. with the ammount of detail and all the music + ingame tv programs and the multiplayer I would not have thought they could have got this much on a single game disc.
I have to say, now that I have completed the game, the city is so large I am dying for a jet pack to explore it all in more detail, I would give nikos left nut for a jet pack lol

 | i agree to the the thread the driving and the camera could be better addressed the music also has to have its station the previous gta features were a major setback atlest rockstar should put an option where you can turn these on or off prior to the game starting, i would of love to work out in the game soe he can be stronger or faster.

| | some of it is also things in past gta that they now do not allow, such as customizing your vehicles, parachutes, etc, I think it is higher than a 9.0 but not a 10.

| | You raise some really good points Gamexxxover but I don't find they detract enough from it enough to make it 10% lower. It's still a 9.8 in my book :P But as they say to each their own
