Among a number of new announcements debuting in Japan today, Capcom revealed that its hit Japanese online action game franchise Monster Hunter will be coming to the Xbox 360 in Japan this summer in the form Monster Hunter Freedom.
According to VG247, the publisher "can't announce" if and when the updated title will be coming to Western audiences -- this version of the franchise originally released in 2007 on PC and PlayStation 2, but has never launched outside Japan.
The grind-centric, multiplayer-friendly franchise has sold millions of copies in Japan, where it's particularly popular on the PlayStation Portable -- but has also recently debuted a Wii version, Monster Hunter Tri, which is confirmed for Western release in April.
In the meantime, consumer weblog Kotaku reports that the title's closed beta will start in May 2010 in Japan. When services begin this summer, users will pay ¥1,400 ($15) a month -- a fee that also includes a monthly Xbox Live Gold membership. This means Monster Hunter: Frontier players become Gold members for free so long as they subscribe to the MMO.
Further on the partnership between Capcom and Microsoft, iconic Gears of War characters Marcus and Dom will appear in the Xbox 360 version of upcoming Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 title Lost Planet 2, which received a May 18 release date today for the U.S. and Europe. According to reports, the company confirmed it also plans to launch Dead Rising 2 this Spring.
Also part of Capcom's official Spring 2010 line-up for the U.S. and Europe are releases for Wii title Monster Hunter Tri in April and Xbox 360/PS3 title Super Street Fighter IV, which will launch in the U.S. and Europe on April 27 and April 30, respectively.
Capcom will also release downloadable Final Fight: Double Impact via Xbox Live and PlayStation Network in April. The game is a dual re-release of classic sidescrolling action titles Final Fight and Magic Sword as part of a single package, and Final Fight heroes Cody and Guy will also appear as playable characters in Super Street Fighter IV.
“Halo” fans, make ready your battle rifles and prepare to step into an expanded fight on Xbox LIVE. Mythic 2 Map Pack, a Game Add-on developed by Bungie for “Halo 3” consisting of three multiplayer maps available previously only on the “Halo 3: ODST” multiplayer disc, is set to arrive on Xbox LIVE on Feb. 2, 2010.
The release of the Mythic 2 Map Pack brings the total number of “Halo 3” multiplayer maps to 24. The Game Add-on includes three action-packed maps: Heretic, Citadel and Longshore.
Heretic brings players to familiar ground as the “Halo 2” arena Midship returns in “Halo 3.” The stark interior of the Pious Inquisitor might appear austere on first glance, but Heretic’s symmetrical spaces require players to execute complex strategies in order to outplay their opponents.
Citadel may be a long abandoned Forerunner stronghold, but its small, symmetrical confines are far from secure. Two opposing bases offer little safety for players looking for solace. Instead, Citadel forces small squads to stay in constant communication, keep their heads on a swivel, and be prepared to adjust combat tactics in close quarters.
Longshore lacks the commercial ships that once made it a lucrative port for Old Mombasa, but it still bustles with activity. Designed for large-scale combat and well-suited for smaller affairs, Longshore’s multitude of industrial buildings, elevated walks, and open inlets conspire to create a complex battleground tailored for multiple combat scenarios.
Mythic 2 Map Pack will be available on Xbox LIVE for 800 Microsoft Points. Mythic Map Pack 1 and 2 are also included in “Halo 3: ODST,” which includes the complete “Halo 3” multiplayer map collection, an all-new campaign and the incredibly popular cooperative experience, Firefight. “Halo 3: ODST” will act as a key to the upcoming “Halo: Reach” multiplayer beta which goes live later this spring.

Team XeDev recently released a new version of XBLA Unlocker which was previously released by dstruktiv.
The additional "Collection Management" is contributed by node21.
What's new/fixed (v0.3):
* Changed source of data so now we have released date, rating (0 thru 20), and number of ratings
* The "B" button will change what you are sorting on (title, release date, rating, number of ratings)
* MAKE SURE that you delete your old xbla_titles.csv on the root of your USB drive if you have one there
* New script to recreate the database is included, but it take *MUCH* *MUCH* longer to run if you need to run it (you should only need it once a week or so when new titles are released, if you care to be that up-to-date)

The landscape of television is changing right in front of our eyes. Never before have we had so many content options and ways to consume that content, and it looks like the big media companies aren't shying away from the revolution.
ESPN, which has already announced plans to introduce a 3D sports channel within the next year or so, could very well be making a serious play for online viewers. According to rumors in the New York Times, ESPN could "provide live streams of sporting events, similar to the ones available through ESPN 360, a service that is available from some high-speed Internet providers." Did we mention that it would be providing that via Xbox Live?
Microsoft's console has been web-savvy for awhile now, as it was the first of the major consoles to support Netflix streaming, and the Xbox Live Video Store enables users to watch all sorts of video from within the UI. There's also the chance that Microsoft could create interactive games in a partnership with ESPN, but there's no sign of when the deal--if it's even real--will be unveiled to the public.
Despite the inconclusive nature, this all makes perfect sense. With more and more viewers shifting their TV viewing time to the Internet, ESPN would be helping itself out by being one of the pioneer networks to make a deliberate shift to offering content online. If the deal goes through, Xbox Live users would likely have to pay a fee to access to content, but if that means that they can rid themselves of a monthly cable bill that they pay primarily to get EPSN, the savings could be significant. Anyone think this is just a sign of things to come?
I was able to find just a bit more info on my Microsoft Gets Modern Warfare 2 Content First post from Monday, January 11, 2010, while there is still no real date for it we do get an idea of how long the 360 fans will get to work there skills before the rest of the world.
Eurogamer.net reports: Microsoft has revealed just how much of a head start Xbox 360 owners will have with the new down loadable content for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
"We have a 30-day timed exclusive on the Modern Warfare content packs," a spokesperson told Eurogamer. "So it will be available on other platforms, but you get to try and play on Xbox 360 first."
The exclusivity deal was first announced at E3 last year. Back then John Schappert said it covered the first two map packs for Mod War 2.
The DLC is due to be released this spring but an exact date has yet to be locked down.
