IronStarMovement have just published an image on their blog which hints to the possibility of an Xbox 360 DVR Service, most likely to surf and record channels from a cable/satelite provider.
A mysterious image has just appeared on the NeoGaf forums which hints at the possbility of an Xbox 360 DVR service to come. With Kinect, Microsoft wants to make the Xbox 360 an inviting console for home entertainment by allowing anyone to navigate enjoy multimedia content on the Xbox 360 with the use of their voice. The image above hints at the possibility of Microsoft allowing some sort of cable card functioning on Xbox 360 in the future powered by Kinect, most likely to surf and record channels from a cable/satlite provider. Until we receive a response from Microsoft confirming our theory just label this as a RUMOR only dignified by reasonable speculation.

It has been declared that we will no longer see many updates for Xbox Media Center as the development has finally came to a end. But luckly enough, XBMC will not be forgotten forever as Arnova from the XBMC Team has taken on the challenge to continue on with XBMC. Hopefully we will some day find a Xbox Media Center for the Xbox 360!
XBMC Team: XBMC (XBMP really) started as a program for modified XBOX consoles. In the following years, XBMC has grown into a multi-platform, multi-architecture media center that runs on most standard hardware. The hardware and legal limitations of the XBOX were always a concern and the Team has instead focused on running on the hardware that most people already have.
The last official release for the XBOX by the XBMC team was Atlantis, over 18 months ago. Since then, one brave soul (Arnova) has been merging code from the main codebase into the XBOX branch in our repository. Because there were many users out there that took advantage of these updates, we had no problem with this.

Looks like farmboynick has figured out how to boot Xbox Media Center (XBMC - Xbox 1) on homebrew Xbox 360 by patching Avalaunch with a halo title id.
I have just launched XBMC [for Xbox1] on my Xbox360, it was so simple ... I patched Avalaunch to boot from disk [with a halo title id] and put a XBMC folder on the disk. After Avalaunch booted I went to file manager and copied the XBMC folder to the E-drive, then simply clicked the XBMC XBE file and it worked.
So far I have been able to launch all XBMC versions that I have tried and can also launch surreal64 and some xbox1 games in file form from HDD. All from selecting the XBE in the Avalaunch file manager
Some versions of XBMC can run picture files, some can run music files, so far I can't get AVI movies to play or gain network access.
A New hack for Xenon and Falcon Xbox 360 motherboards has been released. The new Free60 JTAG/SMC Xell Hack & NAND image will allow you to boot your xbox 360 into XeLL mode which allows you to run and launch linux distros or run libxenon homebrew software.
Finally the Zephyr JTAG Hack is here :)
This is XELL (compiled 11.09.09) inserted into 4558 Zephyr-Kernel.
!Fixed Version! USB Support was broken
Don't wonder about the Filesize, its correct like that. It just flashes the beginning of the NAND so your console specific data like MAC adress will stay.
Of course you should have a working backup of your NAND before you proceed.
Just flash with:
LPT
nandpro lpt: -w16 zephyr_hack_updxell.bin 0
USB
nandpro usb: -w16 zephyr_hack_updxell.bin 0
JC460 has released his Homebrew Linux Device Driver for Xbox 360 Audio. The device driver is alsa compitable, so basically you can compile mplayer and then it should play various music formats for you easily.
It supports both analog stereo and digital spdif (only dobly digital by now). Thanks for tmbinc for his finding on 360 audio hardware details and his help on debuging the code. The license for the code is GPL.
In order to compile it, you will need to properly edit sound/pci/Makefile with the following statements, and also change Kconfig if needed. do not forget to enable ALSA support in your kernel.
snd-xenon-objs := xenon_snd.o
obj-$(CONFIG_SND_XENON) += snd-xenon.o
Please feel free to improve this driver for the following things:
1) Interrupt: I could not get pci interrupt to work. This driver currently uses a timer interrupt.
2) DTS passthrough: my receiver could not decode the raw dts bit stream sent by mplayer, I guess one register was not set correctly for dts passthrough. If you have a jtag setup on xbox 360 motherboard, you could help on this: put a dvd movie with dts track into 360 drive and play(check if your receiver receive dts signal), read 64 bytes from address 0xea001600 with your jtag device and then post the result here.
3) Mixer such as volumn setting etc.
The driver may not be bug free. I am not responsible for any damge that the driver may cause to your hardware, so use it at your own risk.
