Next Metal Gear Game Not For XBOX 360?

Next Metal Gear Game Not For XBOX 360?

Not so long ago Konami put up a web site with "a next Metal Gear is…” and the popular vote was since the pic was in an Xbox green color it was going to be for the 360 and i am sorry to say it looks like any one that had dreams of MG on the 360 can now cry since the site was talking about MG for the iPhone.

Here to blow holes in my December 05, 2008 post on the topic is Y2Kev's post in the NeoGAF forum: "Confirmed via Duckroll: MGS Touch for iPod and iPhone. Will use "MGS4's worldview." Looks like it has nice graphics. A shooter for release in spring 2009. Kojima pwns everyone again."

Well i guess thats that and 360/MG fans will just need to hold there breath longer for this one.

Ghostbusters For The 360

Ghostbusters For The 360
Published by: wes213 on Tuesday, December 16, 2008
Tagged: Gaming, Xbox 360,

With Atari taking the position of Publisher for Ghostbusters it all boils down to when we will get a chance to play this game and will it be before the hype burns out, to keep the hype up here is an article from OXM.co.uk on this could be monster hit that still needs a due date.

OXM reports: It's one of the weird rules in life that the more effort someone puts into something, the more naturally inclined you are to like it.

Therefore, it's hard not to like Ghostbusters. If there's an award next year for Game With The Most Amount Of Love Poured Into It, then they might as well post the award to Terminal Reality now.

This game is simply gorgeous. The level of detail here simply drips each drop of blood, sweat and tears put into it as particle beams clash, proton packs whirr into life and paint is scorched off nearby walls in the man-versus-ghost battles. There's nothing quite like it.

It's a good job that Ghostbusters has that powerful impact straight away because it's too easy to be cynical about this one - a game tied in with movies that's seen as the third in the series, dramatic change of publishers and more film lawyers milling about than Ally McBeal? It spells disaster.

Yet this is already shaping up to be one of the surprises of next year. In fact, we'll say it now - this could be one of the games of next year, let alone surprises.

Gameplay wise, we're shown a typical Ghostbusters set-up that sees their investigative nose lead them into trouble. That's unsurprising, given the same writing team from the movies including Dan Ackroyd is penning this game too, but what is surprisingly is how engaging the set-up is.

New Recruit
We're shown the Ghostbusters team (you play the new rookie) sharing in their usual banter, as they track down a ghost who disappears into a dusty, abandoned library. Along the way are ghosts that need to be fought and trapped, as you use your PKE detector to follow the ghostly handprints towards the end of the library...

Then it hits. The nearby books fly off the shelves in a sub-section of the flooded library and form a towering monster, trying to club the Ghostbusters with hands made of encyclopedias and murder novels. The proton beams fire up and the library is bathed in orange and blue glow. A few frantic minutes later, the ghost is dealt with and the books collapse into the water, bobbing around as the Ghostbusters brush past them. It looks absolutely stunning.

Your proton pack will contain four different firing modes, from the standard proton beam to a elastic slime that lets you play around with the phsyics. Stick a slime to a plank of wood, fire the other end at the wall and wood will ping itself to the wall in a sticky embrace. Ewww. No prizes for guessing that puzzles will inevitably be involved with that firing mode.

Then, it's a case of ensnaring the ghosts by wearing them down and wrestling them over to the trademark floor traps that the Ghostbusters use to ensnare the spooky fiends. To picture the battles in action, imagine the courtroom fight against the Scoleri brothers from Ghostbusters II. For boss battles, it's classic old-skool gaming in full flow - learn the patterns, use them against the boss. it looks to be challenging but not distractingly so, which allows you to enjoy the awesome design of the bosses you're thrown up against.

Visually, Ghostbusters does the job and then some. For integrity, it brings back old writers and the original crew for voice-acting - even Bill Murray has signed up. Yet it's the gameplay that could prove to be the true trump card of Ghostbusters, combining light and frothy fun with incredibly well-designed creatures that sticks to the lore of the series.

Guitar Hero World Tour VS. Rock Band 2

Guitar Hero World Tour VS. Rock Band 2
Published by: wes213 on Monday, December 15, 2008
Tagged: Xbox 360,

Should i get Guitar Hero World Tour or Rock Band 2 is a common question here at the HQ and who knows if this will help shed some light on the subject or not but i guess it cant hurt, a recent report by GameSpot has said that in the U.S. the fans seem to go more for Guitar Hero World Tour and here is the report to explain why.

GameSpot U.K. reports: UBS reports Activision beat Rock Band 2-to-1 in November rhythm-game revenues--but 30.8% year-on-year earnings slide despite product doubling rings alarm bells.

This week brought some good news for Activision: Guitar Hero World Tour was November's top music game. Though NPD hasn't released any specific sales figures other than the Wii version's 475,000-unit tally, UBS analyst Ben Schachter provided a run-down of the Guitar Hero franchise's sales for the month. He also tabulated the combined sales of Electronic Arts, MTV Games, and Harmonix's rival series, Rock Band.

According to Schachter, just over 1.7 million Guitar Hero games were sold in the US during November 2008, a 25.3 percent decrease from the nearly 2.3 million the year prior. All Rock Band games, by contrast, sold fewer units by comparison--just 628,452--but saw a massive 64.7 percent increase in sales from the year before.

However, when only revenue is considered, the disparity between the two franchises narrows. Guitar Hero games generated $145.9 million in the US last month, down 19.5 percent from November 2007's $181.1 million. However, thanks to an installed base of instruments, Rock Band games didn't see that much of an uptick, rising just 9.7 percent to $68.7 million during the month.

While impressive, Rock Band and Guitar Hero's combined $214.6 million haul was actually a 12 percent slide from November 2007. More disturbing for Activision is the steep decline in both revenues and units for the Guitar Hero franchise. In November 2007 Guitar Hero III's six SKUs--or individual retail product configurations--generated 1.9 million units in sales, amounting to combined $158.8 million. In October 2008, Guitar Hero World Tour sold just 978,000 units, minting just $109.8 million.

Though Schachter blames the lower number in part on constrained supply, he echoed a colleague's concerns that this downward trend is a sign that the rhythm game market may be saturated. "This will fuel concerns that the genre is past its peak," he said in a note to investors. "With Activision and others sure to bring new innovation to the genre next year we can't count it out, but it almost certainly won't be the growth driver it has been over the past two years."

So if the report holds water you might want to get them both just incase the glory days are over.
