USB adapter trick for incompatible motherboards with Slim drives (and Phat)

How to Detect / Flash / Read Dump Key of Slim DVD Drives in VIA (or other) motherboards that have issues with Xbox 360 Slim DVD Drives (this also work with Phat drives, but issues with Phat drives are rare, only happen with Liteon and sometimes retrying fix it so I am focusing in Slim Drives that are the one with issues specially in VIA motherboards)
Introduction
Do you have troubles performing any firmware operation in Slim Drives with your motherboard? (Like failing to detect, fail to flash or read/dump dvd key)
All you need is a simple 0.99$ Sata to USB adapter.
I am not going to waste time explaining what makes this work, all you need to know is that when you start you Drive connected to you motherboard, for security reasons you are unable to get into vendor mode. This tutorial is a very cheap workaround.

1. Things You Need:
1.1. Your Slim DVD Drive (of course)
1.2. A Connectivity Kit (Recommend) to power the drive so you can use the xbox itself
1.3. Sata Motherboard (tested in VIA motherboards with sucess)
1.4. A USB to Sata adapter (get a cheap 1$ adapter like the one below, ebay is a good place to get one)
1.5. JungleFlasher (obvious)
2. Doing the trick
The trick is basically starting the drive plugged to the adpter then plug it to the motherboard without powering it off.
The Steps are the following: (With Jungle Flasher open)
1- Plug the USB end of the converter to a USB port on your pc or back of the Xbox or TV. Doesn't matter as long as the adapter gets power from the USB.
2. So you have your DVD drive with a SATA cable connected to it's back, so connect the other end of the SATA cable to the SATA port on the adapter

3. Turn on your DVD drive (Using the Connectivity Kit or the Xbox itself. I used the Kit and recommend always using a Kit)
You may then open disk tray and then close it. (Not really necessary but it help if your problem is detection)
4. Now with Drive powered ON, remove the SATA cable from the USB adapter and plug it into a SATA port that use on your pc. (Once again when doing this the Drive must be on)
And that's it, magic is done. You may have to repeat the steps every time you turn off the drive.
To make things even more easy for you, II am going to exemplify in 2 methods (flashing and reading)
A - Reading/Dumping Firmware
(In this case I am going to use a Liteon 0225)

Dumping the Key of Slim Lite-On 0225, 0272, 0401, 1071
A.1 - Do "the trick" Steps 1 to 4 that are written above
A.2 - Select DVDkey tab on Jungle Flasher
A.3 - Select "slimkey" Then Click "NO" to unlock pop-up question.
A.4 - Without the trick it would fail here but this time works and you are prompt to select where you want to save the key and the other .bin files.
Turn off drive when done.
Done!!! (Notice that with this method JF wont ask to to power off then on again with 1 sec)
B - Flashing Firmware
Same thing
B.1 - Do "the trick" Steps 1 to 4 that are written above
B.2 - Select MTK Flash 32 tab.
C
B.3 Select Intro/Device ID to enter Vendor Mode.
B.4.With the target fw loaded, select "Write".
B.5. Once done select Outro. (That's it)
Note, when flashing if any step fail just repeat the "trick", like if you need to do Liteon Erase, after successfully erasing, writing may fail, so you to repeat the "trick" Steps 1 to 4 and then write
