It's been two years since i started this thread, finally sent our application in March, just waiting for the decision. Should be sent to us any day now.
Trying to get in by skills assessment with the Australian Computer Society. They are stopping immigration via skills assessment from next month i think, then you have to have a degree to qualify.
Anyway, fingers crossed, really don't know if my application is strong enough (applied as a software engineer), but time will tell.
Will let you know of the decision once i get it _________________________________________________________ Opinions are like arse holes, everybody has one and your's stinks.

I wish you luck.
I would love to move to Australia too, I always heard it was great, even better than Germany.
Plus the girls must be cute, like the ones from those teenage tv shows that are now filling our tv on the weekend's morning.
From Lisbon to Sidney on a Airbus A340 it only takes 23h, it's a short trip and pretty cheap _________________________________________________________

Congrats man on getting this far. I hope you get it! I would love to move to Australia myself. Kind of out of the question for me. (school, work, family) I hear the Seychelles Islands are nice, but expensive and I would love to like there also. _________________________________________________________

Well, finally got my skills positively assessed by ACS (Australian Computer Society) on the 30th June (deadline for applying for visa with DIAC was 30th June). By the time i got up i had a couple of hours to complete and submit the form to DIAC.
Long story short, i literally missed the deadline by a couple of minutes, so no Australia for me.
The points system changed after the 30th and i don't meet the required 65 points. My skills are on the list, but other requirements have been tightened
So hooroo Australia _________________________________________________________ Opinions are like arse holes, everybody has one and your's stinks.

My skill was assessed as Software Engineer, and the Northern Territories and Southern Australia still require them.
You need to have been working in that profession for 12 out of the past 24 months, i would have left my job as Software Engineer in September last year, so i only have a couple of months left to use that as my skilled occupation.
I also need to do an English test with ILETS and get all 8's. I already did one for our previous application but got a 7 in one of the four areas, in the other three areas i got 8.5 (out of 9). There are no centers where i could do the test and get the results back in time either.
I also need to get state sponsorship, but to do that i need to do my English test first.
Just wasn't meant to be. _________________________________________________________ Opinions are like arse holes, everybody has one and your's stinks.

That sux dude. With that english test and all because trust me there is a lot of people here who can hardly put a sentence together.
Hopefully one day you'll get your dream happening.
