That's why you don't do it wrong. Not that hard to do it right, just don't go at it like a crazy person.
In order to do xclamp you have to turn off the fans to melt it, that may damage other stuff, you dont die with the disease you die with the cure
What???? You only do that if its already broken. Just do the fix and don't overheat and bam! Preventing the RROD. _________________________________________________________

In that case I only know to fix and not how to prevent... Any tutorial?

Well the easy'est way to prevent the RROD is to just put 1mm washers on the pin's under the X-clamps...........(this will put a bit more pressure on the die so do it with care) SLOWLY
then buy a good whisper fan...........
that's all i have done to mine..........
i was getting funny colors all over the screen (the start of RROD) when i done mine, That was 9 month's ago and it's running great.............

The only way to 'break' the 360 with the x-clamp fix is when you are heat gunning it and not taking the proper cautions in protecting everything around the BGA chips needed to be re-flowed. The clamp fix - when the instructions are followed properly will not destroy it.
Oh ya, the towel trick will destroy it though

The clamp fix will prevent as well. To be honest, you can add 30 fans to a working 360 and it will still fail. It's the nature of the design of the console that makes them fail.

I saw the Wilhelms tut and we need a lot of suff to do it, so I guess I wont do it as prevention...
Take a look at the tutorial, we even have to make modifications on the case...
If your console dies, this is the most effective way of fixing it, so it's also the best way of keeping it alive. You only need a drill, sandpaper some bolts and washers and a old plastic gift/business card and thermal compound, oh ya a pair of pliers. If you have a hardware store it should all be there except the compound. The case is the starting point to your potential problems and the thermal compound is the next problem. It can be done in a couple of hours if you have it all ready.
If your console has not failed, just leave it alone. Nothing says it WILL fail, but the percentage of failing consoles is against you. I have a friend that bought one at launch date, and only the laser failed, nothing else so far.
Total cost for all of the stuff in Canada is less than $20. The thermal compound - Artic silver 5 is the most costly.

I’ve been working with computers all my life and the biggest thing to kill a computer (or Xbox) is HEAT...... nothing more nothing less.....
cos .75 of millimeter bend over 28cm main board is nothing realy.
The biggest and the main prob with the 360 is heat-heat-heat, not only because of hardware failure but also heat will slow down your system too...
but with the 360 it's also the x-clamps lose their torsion the hotter the Xbox get's letting the board warp under the die, and with the chip so hot the solder starts to melt till one or two pins under the die will come away and bang RROD...
So really it's better to keep your system cooler with good fans and put a little bit of presure to the die (chip)
that's why the new xboxes are now comming out with chips that run much cooler and better fans that run faster and with a lot less noise... _________________________________________________________

You are abs right, I am gonna order a Whisper Max fans and take off the old fans and intercooler
