All my other games work fine I have never had my 360 freeze on me like this any other suggestions from anyone...My final option would be to just return the game until Rockstar figures out this problem.

Seems very odd that it is freezing up for you. My suggestion would be to

1) Clear the cache again
2) unplug everything from the 360 (power brick, video cables, hard drive)
3) unplug the power brick from the wall
4) let it sit for about half an hour
5) plug everything back in
6) clear the cache again and try playing

I know it seems like a lengthy process but it has been useful to me before. It solved my friends RROD (weird I know) and when bioshock was lagging out for me after half way through the game I did this and it worked like a charm.

Let us know if this works!

There is many diffrent things to the RROD not just the gpu ive heard this before that sometimes was caused by the power brick geting to hot too so its not just one thing. But ya do what frozen says and if it dont work then i would just bring it back and do what u need to get your money back tell they figure out what is causing it.

Since no one else has the issue it seems strange for it to be the GTA 4 DVD-ROM it self but perhaps there is a batch of bad ones at the store you are buying from. Try to get GTA 4 somewhere else??

I'll just throw out a lame duck. Do you you allow the 360 updates to take place?

I bought the game expecting good things about it but in return it has been nothing but disapointing. I have a Xbox 360 the Halo edition that I bought in January and every time I try to play GTA IV it freezes on me I can play for 5 minutes and the game freezes. I returned my disc thinking that this would solve the problem but with new disc they gave me the same problem still continued. So I will try to return it again today for another disc lets hope that third one works.

Is the Halo Edition with the 20 GB drive or the 120 GB drive? I'll through out another slim chance thought. Do you have plenty of available drive space?

Well, I hope you figure out what is wrong soon.

Halo edition xbox 360 has a 20gb harddrive. Ya i was thinking the same too not to sure though. I also see u got maybe a couple mins into the game try deleting the game save u have for it and redoing it since your not so far into the game. Maybe it is something to do with the begining or somthing. Unless it just lockes up right away but i would try deleteing your game save if you have one for the GTA-4 and go from there maybe it will work then.

Hi jumanji311,

That's really strange mate.. I can't believe your having so many problems..

No other users seem to be reporting any freezing issues more the occassional lockup but thats due the the normal overheating etc issues for the older consoles.

I really hope we figure out what the problem is.. It could be like tweaked mentioned and be a bad batch of discs at the retailer your buying it from... Do you have any other friends with a xbox 360 who you could test with??

Maybe borrow a friends hdd and put it on your machine and boot the game, or even put your hdd on your friends machine and boot it up.

let us know.

Sorry we couldnt help you further man, Sad

Do what I said before minus the cache clearing, and when you plug everything back in don't plug the hard drive in and try playing it without it, see if it still does it. This one really has me stumped Sad
