Has anyone managed to get any other hdd that aren't listed to work with hddhackt? BEVTs are listed for about 90 now so there really is no point.

If anyone has one I'll buy a home made hdd for around $50 if it's a 250gb.

Only western digital BEV series drives will work with HDDhacker, but check to see if there have been any recent updates on it. maybe it might support other drives now.

At the time i published this tutorial HDDhackr only support BEV series.

There is a model of Samsung that works as well, I gotta tear mine open and get the S/N, M/N. I havent talked with LegendaryFire in a while but we were talking about dumping the firmaware and seeing if we could extend it to more drives. Just considering how the process works Im 100% convinced that Hitachi and Toshiba will work as well. Basicaly my theory is any brand used in the 360 also had retail sold for PC and the firmware can be dumped and transfered to a like model. As far as I can tell the only limiting factor is HDDHackr(WDS only) but there are ways of doing it manualy. I gotta get my hands on a GOW3 Edt 360 to confirm nothings been changed but I think its safe to say 320GB is the new limit

All hard drives are going to be expensive for a while, until Thailand recovers from the current flooding.

Glade to hear I know I'm not the only person dissapointed to hear that onlty WD would work, you think they'd at least git Seagate to work with them by now.

The PS3 drives are Toshiba so it'd be kinda a slap in the face to be able to take that out of our ps3 and just build a 360 hdd out of it Very Happy

As I said its not a HDD limitation but the program. If you have no issue using Linux to do it you can use other HDDs. Thats how I did a Samsung, and Im sure it could also be done with a simple .bat file. All HDDHackr does is basicaly type the C-prompt commands for you. The new 250GB for the Slim is a Toshiba, so its realy just a matter of dumping the drive then using Linux to transfer to another Toshiba of the same model.

Also even if there was no flooding in Thailand the price your looking to hit is low, since a piece of crap 250GB Hitachi HDD goes for around 50 so a quality brand HDD like Seagate or WD is gonna cost more. Also people know all about BEV so they inflate the price accordingly. If you have a Slim the cheaper and easier route for you to go is hit sites like Craigslist and used game stores and grab a HDD for one of the old fat 360, pop open the case and slide er in, just like putting a new HDD in a laptop

Thought I'd bump this thread to ask a quick question about HDDhacker.

There is still no development on the software working on ALL branded sata laptop drives? It'd be nice to use this with a Seagate drive.
