I enjoy hearing from educated gamers like you guys and wanted to hear your thoughts on this topic.

I personally am a huge N64 (mainly goldeneye 007) fan, I love how expansive the game felt and has always been the standard for me. I thought Halo did a decent job leaving off where goldeneye 007 started by adding flying vehicles etc.

However these james bond games for the newer consoles seem so restrictive to me. There's too many cutscenes and everyone developer seems to focus on graphics more than trying to add a simple and elegant new feature like what goldeneye 64 did with rumble or stealth.

Although I have yet to play the newer versions of call of duty (i.e. 360 console generation or newer) it seems a lot of new games are simply derivatives of call of duty.

I thought this guy articulated that pretty well:

What do the rest of you think? Love to hear your thoughts, especially if first person shooters are you favorite types of games.

I used to love COD, but since they released another piece of shit game this year that's exactly the same I'm over it. I really enjoyed Black Ops and Black Ops 2 the most out of all the COD's. Battlefield is a real players game, none of this computer controlled aircraft shit. All the adults play BF3 and BF4 while most of the kids play cod. funny really.

Games from the old days will always be the best, I still love some of my really old C64/AMIGA games let alone the N64/GENESIS games etc etc.

Seriously if anyone has NOT played Battlefield 4, just do it. This is a real game and what i have dreamed about since being a kid. Every game sorta all in one. Aircraft, Jets, Vehicles, Soldiers.

Nice thread. Smile

I haven't played any of those COD games for the 360 yet.

That helicopter stuff looked pretty cool, the graphics seem nice too.

I just love the sarcasm from the goldeneye remake review.

"The 'interactive' cutscenes" Laughing

The fancy graphics to hide the loading screen Laughing

I definitely agree with that guy, when you put so many cutscenes in these newer games simply for the purpose of showing off the graphics, these video games start turning into movies.

If I wanted to watch a movie, then why would play a video game. Razz

You're supposed to be able to explore in FPS, not play a game that feels like an an on the rails shooter due to all these completely unnecessary cutscenes Laughing

That's what's nice about older games, they didn't have the kind of hardware firepower to play around with cutscenes. It required them to focus on having good, elegant and solid gameplay.

It all comes down to something very simple really and it's that back when gaming started you basically had nothing as in no real graphical ability at all yet you had to make a game that would grab a user and make them want to play it so in order to do this games had to have amazing gameplay due to the lack of graphics.

Now in a time where everything is in awesome HD and has to look awesome gameplay seems to have had to take a step sideways because people knock games if it doesn't look cool and therefore game developers are spending more time on the graphical side rather than the gameplay and I'm hoping it's a trend that gets curved away from real fast because lets face it games look amazing sure they can be tweaked but if some had more to it in gameplay they would be corner blocks to the future of gaming.

Remember when everyone was complaining about how old Halo series were getting?

Like I say people never bitch about how Pokemon/sports games are always the same but yet they always seem to buy them.

Don't get the PC version just yet mate, gamexxover is having a hell of alot of problems and basically asking for his money back.. It seems like DICE is focusing on patching Xbox 360, Xbox One first and then PC version, while PS4 users have to wait. Here's a thread where gamexxover discusses the problems with the PC version. He has a pretty nice PC too.

Thats surprising I was talking to LegendaryFire maybe 2 weeks ago and he said it ran like a champ on his PC.

I wouldnt be surprised if its like GTA and DR on PC where you need to install it on a pretty much virgin OS for it to work. EA tends to give a lot of credence to PC gamers so Im sure any issues that are occuring will get sorted out ASAP.

Im gonna grab it after boxing day and see how it is since I liked 3. Just gotta up my GPU since running on medium settings does not fly with me Very Happy

As for COD, yes it has ruined 1st Person, and personally I think its degraded gaming and online experience as a whole. I had Modern Warfare for 360 and I refused to use a headset cause it was nothing but mouthy 11 year olds saying they were gonna butt rape you and bashing peoples mothers etc. And these COD (call of douche baggers) are migrating across the board. Just the other day I had one lip me off on Youtube cause I corrected him on his XBOX softmod vid and he gave me something along the lines of "Fuc^ you, youre a bitch, think youre so good play COD with me and ill cut your fuc&in heart out" blah blah blah.

The downward spiral courtesy of Activision lol

Youre 100% correct TMS, old days even up to the XBOX/PS2 gen devs had to produce a quality package, now days its all window dressing. Heres 5 minutes of gameplay and 9 hours of cutscenes isnt this game great

don't get me wrong sppv, im only going of what gamexxover has been saying about it.. I know LegendaryFire was playing it ok sure, but there have been some really bad server issues.. I hear tonight (saturday night australia) they are restarting the servers for the new update, mmmm that should fix things..The game is amazing, server issues or not.. I love it and only wish i had more time to play.
