Has anyone got any experience with all in one pc's? Was thinking of getting a laptop but can get this brand new for $800 instead, HP Pavilion 23-a020a All-in-One Desktop PC. My laptop just sits on the table anyway so portability isn't really an issue.

For the price is has more ram, hard drive space and better processor speed than a similarly priced laptop, plus the screen is 8-10 inches bigger. I know it wont be the best for games but won't use it for that anyway.

What do you recon?

I haven't had much experience with the all-in-ones, the only draw back i could ever see would be if something was to fail you would need to return the unit and be left with nothing.. lol

The HP looks nice.. You'll be happy with Windows 8 64-bit once you get used to a few small changes to the OS (if you havent' had win8 already). Since you're not planning to play the latest games on it, it looks just fine to me. Stylish even.

I want one badly, but keep in mind they're basically laptops. Nearly everything on board you may be able to upgrade hdd/ram. But yeah expect to pay more that $600+ if you want a good one. Truth be told I'd rather go iMac if you want that type of system.

The Apple ones do look nice but at almost twice the price, and the fact that i'm a windoze man, i'll go with the HP. I was looking at the Envy laptops also but am swayed to this one due to the screen size.

I have kept away from trying windows 8 but will have to give it a try now, don't suppose it is greatly different from windows 7? I'll probably play some older games on it, will dust off the Dawn of War trilogy, my current laptop can't even handle that lol (Dell Inspiron 1545).

I'd avoid hp since they have high fail rates heres a list here

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olstemplatemapper.jsp?_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&_dynSessConf=8979030622475921929&id=abcat0501005&type=category&usc=abcat0500000&cp=1&sp=customerrating+numberofreviews&nrp=15&qp=crootcategoryid%23%23-1%23%23-1~~q70726f63657373696e6774696d653a3e313930302d30312d3031~~cabcat0500000%23%230%23%2311a~~cabcat0501000%23%230%23%2329~~ncabcat0501005&add_to_pkg=false&pagetype=listing&gf=y

I'd go Acer or Asus, Toshibia lenovo

This iMac has a geforce 650M and you could always dual boot into win7

Well i've gone and got a HP ENVY 23-d113a, should be delivered in the next few days. Cost $960, which is about $300 cheaper than anywhere on the net that i can see (if someone finds it cheaper i'll kick your arse).

The 360 thing was really a joke, but a 40%+ failure rate on a piece of electronic equipment that initially only had a 90 day warranty, i'm surprised bill gates wasn't put in the electric chair.

Where did you get the info on high HP failure rates? I see they recently had issues with their Pavilion line of laptops. I see you have a HP laptop yourself, a 17" monster, that's the sort of thing i initially wanted until i saw these all-in-ones.

I'll let you know how it goes tweaked, due for delivery on Monday but won't be here to sign for it ggrrrr.
