There's nothing wrong with this forum to be honest it's one of the best I've been apart of.
My beef with message boards goes back down the road a long time ago. I enjoy a joke here and there but when you are trying to gain knowledge from another person do NOT send them to Google dot freakin com. Forums are put here in order to receive knowledgeable information. Sure search engines are great for basic information like 'What time is it' but when we ask for advice we want reliable sources. Sometimes people have no idea what to search for and that's fine message boards were invented to HELP other people not to link them to a site that people use every day of there life.
Another thing that bothers me is how opinionated some people can be, I mean do alot of us really sit there all day discussing I think that and this then go off into hours of debate? What's the point?
If you think you are helping by just throwing out a google link then you are sadly mistaken, shouting "Just google it" makes you as a person seem to be a complete asshole.
Another thing are forum members that feel as if they are important elitist and that you should never question them. It's just text on a screen so why anyone should feel more important on a message board is beyond me. I do understand however that most members respect one and other say you have put in a great amount of time helping or you have donated to the community, but I have seen members push it to the next level where they completely dick ride staff members just because they think being a mod will get them more attention from new members.
These are the reasons that I've stayed at the hq network mainly because the boards don't suffer from these problems.
Yall are great and if you are thinking any of this is directed to you it's not, just thought I'd let some steam out, a few of you probably know what sites I am talking about though.
I hear ya man, I packed it in on dev cause of that kinda crap. And was forced to go very douchey with many because they just wouldnt leave me alone. I dont mind helping people, or anything like that, but when people expect there hand held while they wipe their butt, then flip cause you used 3 squares as opposed to 2, is beyond pale in my eyes.
We've always had a good group at Hq, I can only think of 2 people that peeved me, and only bannings Ive ever handed down were for Spammers. But more kids you get more likelihood of immature people in the forum. And I think here for the most part are adults.
