Funny shit, we all knew it would happen, especially since SONY insist on leaving their servers open to everyone to hack for free!

PlayStation Network (PSN) compromised by hackers and shut down

This is why we pay good money to play online because its secure but seriously what did they expect to happen.

In the words of Marvin The Martian look's like it's "Back to the old drawing board" for the PSN.

I read that someone said it was their own fault and could have been payback for prosecuting George Hotz.
Another group of hackers are saying that it hasn't been hacked, Sony are having internal server problems and are just blaming hackers, but why do that?

Either way, for this to happen over the Easter weekend it ain't good for them or their customers.

Is this having anything to do with this? Or is this just fake?

The main reason to blame hackers if its an internal mess up is to keep from looking like incompetent boobs. I hope it was internal since I have no support or patience for denial of service attacks, or the course taken before Xmas in the attacks on many sites affiliated with Visa, and many CDN sites were shutdown due to having similar names to those targeted. All in all such attacks make the hacker/modder comunity look bad as a whole. I constantly have to explain to people that I just hack software for fun that I dont try to hack banks and such. Yet people see the crap (IMO) coming from places like annonymos and lump us all together.

I hate Sony even more than M$ but you hit them where it hurts. Taken down PSN doesnt hurt. Juicing em out of game revenue by giving an easy way to hack the console does. Without that revenue the console market is just one big loss.

Sony now is claiming that users credit card info, adresses mothers maiden name, birthday etc were compromised and scooped but that people shouldnt worry Shocked

http://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/story/2011/04/26/sony-playstation-network-hacked.html?ref=rss

Just another reason why I use a prepaid credit card when I buy stuff online. Wouldnt want to fall into this blackhole that considering the info accesed is gonna turn into one massive identity theft. How does it feel Sony users you got juiced for a blu-ray player with a fancy name and now could be the victim of fraud etc because Sony would rather protect the games they produce than their customers credit info?

Here is the latest update from sony. The Network will be down for a long time if you ask me, oh, and my prediction is that it wont be long before you will have to pay for the service to stop this happening again in the future.

With their current setup PSN is vulnerable to anyone hacking it where as Xbox LIVE good luck, we cant even get modded code to run without a JTAG and they are becoming harder to find.

Enjoy your 360.
